National Development Hall of Fame: NDLEA Chairman, Kogi Governor, Hon. Elegbeleye, ACG Ejibunu, Bash Ali Set For Induction

The Chairman/ Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Maj. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Nigeria Premier Football League Board Chairman, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, ACG HK Ejibunu, the Coordinator of Customs Operation Whirlwind, amongst others would formally be inducted into the famous National Development Hall of Fame.  The event, which is the first of it's kind in Nigeria is powered by Elation magazine, Royal International magazine, Elation Communications Limited and it's affiliates is billed to take place on Saturday, June 21 2025 at the Nigeria National Merit Award Secretariat, in the heart of Abuja. MWUN Rallies Behind Nigeria For IMO Election As PG Commends NIMASA Achievement

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has pledged its full support for Nigeria’s bid to return to Category 'C' of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council, while commending the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) for its transformative role in maritime security and governance. Speaking in Lagos over the weekend, the President General (PG) of MWUN, Comrade Francis Bunu, lauded NIMASA’s significant achievements, particularly in combating piracy in the Gulf of Guinea. He noted that the Agency’s efforts have significantly improved safety and stability on Nigerian waters. “We now have peace on our waters, and this achievement is commendable. Apapa Command Engages Stakeholders To Boost Cargo Delivery Through Rail

The Apapa Area Command of the  Nigeria Customs Service, has reinstated its commitment in working with other stakeholders towards to boost trade facilitation and  optimizing cargo delivery through the rail lines.  This commitment was stated by the Customs Area Controller (CAC), of Apapa Command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu Phd, at an engagement with various stakeholders which included the representatives from Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC),held at the command on Wednesday. Comptroller Olomu said the meeting was inline with the directive of the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi MFR to improve logistics through multimodal transport systems. Customs Intercepts Contrabands Valued At Over N1.2bn, Arrests Seven Suspects

The Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service yesterday, June 3, 2025 revealed that it has intercepted and seized contraband goods with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of one billion, two hundred and eighty-five million, six hundred thousand, three hundred and eighty-three naira (N1, 285, 600,383.00) only in which Seven suspects were equally arrested in connection with the various seizures. WCO, NCS, JICA Launch First Master Trainer Programme on Geospatial Intelligence in West Africa

As part of a significant move to strengthen border security and improve regional capacity, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), in collaboration with the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has launched the first-ever WCO Expert Master Trainer Programme on Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) in West Africa. The week-long programme commenced on 2 June 2025 in Abuja, drawing participants from Customs administrations across the region. The training aims to equip officers with the technical know-how to deploy geospatial technologies for mapping, analysing, and monitoring border activities. Declaring the programme open, Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, emphasised the importance of leveraging cutting-edge technology to boost trade security and combat transnational crimes such as smuggling and trafficking. NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE CLARIFIES CIRCULATING VIDEO OF SHOOTING INCIDENT

Following the resurfaced video trending on the social media which captured some operatives of the Nigeria Customs Services involving in the shooting incident, the service through a press statement issued by the National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Controller Abdullahi Maiwada dated 3rd of June 2025 has clarified the situation. The statement reads in full, "the attention of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has been drawn to a video currently circulating on social media, which captures a tragic shooting incident involving some operatives of the Service. The NCS wishes to categorically state that the incident in question occurred on Sunday, 17 February 2019, and not a recent development, as portrayed by some online platforms. Following the ugly occurrence at the Shagamu Interchange in Ogun State, the Service took immediate steps to address the situation in line with its internal procedures. NCJTFLCA SEEKS CONMMEP PARTNERSHIP TO FIGHT CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA MARITME SECTOR

The National Compliance Joint Taskforce of Licensed Clearing Agents (NCJTFLCA) has called for partnership with the Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP) to help in its fight against corruption which has eaten deep into the Nigeria maritime sector. This called was made by the President of NCJTFLCA, High Chief Dr. Basil Chudi Nwolisa, when he featured at the maiden edition of the CONMMEP's Round Table held in Lagos on Wednesday, 28th May 2025, where he emphasized on the urgent need for industry reform. Dr. Nwolisa, in his keynote address, painted a stark picture of the current state of the maritime sector, likening it to a "crime scene" plagued by corruption and inefficiency.
