Customs Seizes Concealed 29,000 Dollars From Travelers ...Heands Over To EFCC

The Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service said it has seized and handed over the sum of $29,000 seized from two male passengers to the representative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Handing over the foreign currency to the EFCC in Lagos on Tuesday, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the command, Comptroller Effiong Harrison, said the money was falsely declared by the passenger at the airport.  While handing  over the intercepted currency to the EFCC. stated that the mov followed a directive from the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adeniyi,  he stated that the action was in contravention of the provisions of Money Laundering Prohibition Act 2011. Customs Zone 'A' Coordinator Commends Western Marine Command for Outstanding Performance in Anti-Smuggling and Border Security

Maritime Journalists Congratulate New WCO Chairperson, CGC Adeniyi

  The Network of Nigerian  Maritime Journalists (NNMJ) has congratulated the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi on his election as the Chairperson of the World Customs Organization (WCO). NNMJ, the  umbrella body of all maritime Journalists in Nigeria in a statement issued on Wednesday by its Chairman, Dele Aderibigbe and Secretary, Moses Ebosele, described Adeniyi's election as "historic moment for Nigeria and Customs administration across the world". AfCFTA: NPA Berth First Wholly Nigerian Owned Container Vessel

 In a bid to maximize the benefits of  the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) on 2nd July at 05:05 hours berthed the first wholly Nigerian-owned container vessel. The container vessel, which berthed at the Five Star Logistics Terminal in TinCan Island Port has its International Maritime Organization (IMO) number 9508770 and christened MV Ocean Dragon is owned by Clarion Shipping West Africa Limited, has a capacity of 349 Twenty-Foot-Equivalent Units (TEUs) gives a boost to concerted investment drive geared towards reaping the cost and time saving benefits of short-sea shipping. In line with the CGC's policy thrust, the Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs within the first half of year 2025 has generated a whooping amount of One trillion, three hundred and seventy-eight billion, fifty-nine million, nineteen thousand, two hundred and forty-five naira, twenty kobo (#1,378,059,019,245.20). The TinCan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service under the helmsmanship of Comptroller Frank Okechukwu Onyeka has continued with the record breaking performances in most of it's activities.
