The Honorable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency, Adegboyega Oyetola, today, June 30, 2025 officially inaugurated the new Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Governing Board, while emphasizing reform-driven governance to align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for economic development.  The Minister highlighted the Board’s role in policy oversight, particularly in staffing and budgetary matters, while stressing that daily operations remain under the Managing Director’s purview, as per the NPA Act and Public Procurement Act of 2007.   The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international enforcement alliances with the signing of a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters with the Republic of Belarus.  The agreement, according to a release by from the National Public Relations Officer, AC Abdullahi Maiwada was concluded on Friday, 27th June 2025, as a side event during the ongoing 145th/146th Sessions of the Customs Co-operation Council at the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Headquarters in Brussels.   The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) says the party will be relieved if it's 2023 presidential candidate, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso joins the ruling All Progressives Congress Party (APC).  This is contained in a statement issued by the NNPP National  Secretary, Comrade Oginni Olaposi on Sunday while reacting to the resignation of APC national chairman,  Abdullahi Ganduje' on Friday who cited health issues as reason for his resignation. In a renewed anti smuggling drive on the Western water ways, the Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has within the last two months has intercepted and seized smuggled  goods worth N352,952,200. This was revealed by the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Command, Comptroller Patrick Ntadi while briefing news men at the Command's headquarters in Ibafon- Apapa, Lagos on Tuesday. The Zonal Coordinator of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Zone 'A'  Lagos, Assistant Comptroller General, ACG Charles Orbih has commended the Customs Area Controller, Seme Area Command, Comptroller Ben Oramalugo PhD for his outstanding performance at the command. The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) is targeting to generate a revenue of N1.28 trillion in 2025, which would be generated from Ship dues, Cargo Dues, concession fees and administrative changes. The Managing Director (MD) of NPA, Abubakar Dantsoho stated thar the said estimated revenues would be as follows ; N544 billion from ship dues, N413 billion from cargo dues, about N250 billion from concession fees and N73 billion from administrative charges. The MD gave this hints during the 2025 budget defence session organised by the House of Representatives Committee on Ports and Harbours, on Monday in Abuja. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Friday, 20 June 2025, raised the alarm over a surge in online scams involving fake recruitment and auction offers falsely linked to the Service. It urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudsters. During a briefing held at the Service’s headquarters in Abuja, the National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, expressed concerns over the growing trend of criminals impersonating senior Customs officials on social media to deceive unsuspecting citizens. “We have observed a disturbing rise in fake accounts bearing the names and images of the Comptroller-General of Customs, the National PRO, and even retired senior officers, all falsely claiming to offer jobs and auction opportunities,” Maiwada said.
