NIGERIA CUSTOMS MANAGEMENT APPROVES THE PROMOTION OF 357 JUNIOR OFFICERS

  Management of the Nigeria Customs Service has approved the     promotion of 357 Men of the service from the ranks of Customs Assistant I (CAI) to Inspector of Customs (IC). This significant decision was ratified during the 7th Management meeting of 2023, chaired by the Comptroller General of Customs   Bashir Adeniyi MFR, on December 1, 2023. The comprehensive promotion list according to the press release signed on behalf of the CGC by    the National Public Relations Officer of the service,    Chief Superintendent of Customs, ABDULLAHI MAIWADA encompasses both the General Duty (GD) and Support Staff (SS) personnel who excelled in the 2023 promotion  exercise. The breakdown of promoted officers is as follows: AIC to IC (246) GD,  AIC to IC (37) SS, CAI to AIC (39) GD, CAI to AIC (27) SS, CAII to CAI (7)  SS, CAIII to CAII (1) GD. NIMASA , NAVY Deepens Collaboration To Ensure Blue Economy Visions Are Achieved

  Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh, OFR and the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogala during a visit by the NIMASA DG to the Naval headquarters in Abuja The Director General of the     Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency     (NIMASA) Dr Bashir Jamoh OFR paid a working visit to the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral E I Ogala in a quest to deepen the relationship between NIMASA and the Nigerian Navy for the collective good of the Nigerian Maritime industry.   They discussed areas of collaboration to ensure the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR in creating the Marine and Blue Economy Ministry are achieved in good time.    The issue of illegal Unreported and Unregulated Fishing was discussed and they are exploring new vistas to ensure Nigerians enjoy the benefits of natural resources in the maritime industry.

Respite For Disengaged NNSL Seafarers As NIMASA, MWUN Dialogue  

  The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, and the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, MWUN have begun discussions on how to resolve the lingering issue of terminal benefits of Seafarers whose appointments were terminated due to the liquidation of the defunct Nigerian National Shipping Line, NNSL over 28years ago.   The Director General of NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh OFR, and the Vice President of the Nigerian Labour Congress who is also the President General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, jointly announced an agreement for physical verification of the affected seafarers/next of kin as the case may apply; the nature of appointment of all affected seafarers, and the exact amount due each beneficiary.    The NIMASA DG accordingly to a press statement from the Assistant Director, Public Relations of NIMASA, Osagie Edward FNIPR assured the Union that their position will be communicated to the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy to ensu

FOU Zone A’ In Giant Stride: Seizes 9 Trailer Loads of Rice, 13 Used Vehicles, Arrests 11 Suspects

  The Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ikeja has continued with its giant stride in anti smuggling with the recent interception and seizures of 5,459 bags of 50kg size of foreign bags of rice which is equivalent to 9 trailer loads. The Acting Controller of the unit, Deputy Comptroller Hussein Kehinde Ejibunu disclosed this while briefing the media yesterday at the headquarters of the unit in Ikeja.    He equally revealed that the command anti-smuggling measures also led to seizure of a Toyota Highlander with an ingenious concealment of suspected bags of foreign parboiled rice at Iju-Ojuore    in Ogun State. Other seizures made by the unit according to the Acting CAC includes, 18,100 litres of PMS, 376 bales of used clothes, 1,926 cartons of frozen poultry products, 337 pieces of used compressors and 396 cartons of frozen fish.
