Ajaokuta To Become Free Trade Zone To Attract FDI

  The Federal Government plans to make the Ajaokuta Steel and it’s environ a Free Trade Zone to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and to diversify the economy of the country. This was revealed by the honourable Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar-Audu during his maiden visit to the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited (ASCOL) on yesterday while taking a tour of the complex. NCS, FRSC Signs MoU To Combat Vehicle Smuggling And Revenue Leakages

  The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS)and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has     signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) for automated data sharing of vehicle registration in order to suppress vehicle smuggling. The Ag. Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR and the Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali signed the MoU on Tuesday, 3rd October 2023 at the headquarters of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Abuja. The Ag. Comptroller-General of Customs, while speaking during his visit disclosed that the collaboration would foster unity between the two agencies and help prevent revenue leakages.  He said, "The MoU would lead to seamless collaboration, operational efficiency, enhanced compliance, and innovative problem-solving."   The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) has built the capacity of journalists to effectively report the defence and security sector. Senior Programme Person, Peace and Security CISLAC, Bertha Ogbimi during a one-day Media Dialogue on “Effective Oversight and Defence Anti Corruption Reportage” in Abuja noted that the workshop is aimed at empowering journalists to effectively oversight the defence sector by asking the right questions to inform the public.   The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command of the Nigeria Customs Service now has Comptroller Martina TillyGyado as the Controller. The new controller, yesterday, Friday 15th September at the command’s conference hall was handed over the mantle of leadership of the command by her predecessor, Comptroller Timi Bomodi who by the recent postings in the NCS management was redeployed to the Seme Command.  While speaking at the handing over ceremony, Compt TillyGbado stated that her leadership would adopt emotional intelligence strategies and apply Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) strategies in addressing matters of revenue collection, anti-smuggling, trade facilitation, and robust stakeholder engagement to improve compliance.
