Nigeria’s Egwunyenga Re-elected Vice Chair of WCO Data Model Project Team

As  Nigeria continues to show her prowess in the development of global customs data standards,  A ssistant Comptroller of Customs, Mary-Anne Egwunyenga, of Information and Communication Technology/Modernisation of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has been re-elected as Vice Chairperson of the Data Model Project Team of the World Customs Organisation (WCO). ‎Her re-election, according to reports was announced on 6th March 2026 during the 74th Data Model Project Team (DMPT) Meeting held at the WCO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. CUSTOMS FOU ZONE ‘B’ CRACKS DOWN ON SMUGGLERS OF ENDANGERED SPECIES, INTERCEPTS LIVE PANGOLINE

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘B’, has intercepted two live pangolins being illegally transported along the Kano–Jigawa axis.  ‎The interception occurred on 12 March 2026 at about 10:00 hours. Operatives of the Unit, during a stop-and-search operation, flagged down the vehicle as part of a proactive enforcement sweep.  ‎ ‎ The seizure was effected pursuant to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), an international agreement that prohibits trade threatening the survival of wild species.  ‎ ‎Upon interception, the animals were secured in appropriate cages and conveyed to the FOU Zone ‘B’ headquarters in Kaduna. Customs Intercepts 13 Containers of Unwholesome Import Worth N6.81b at Apapa Port  ‎

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has announced the seizure of 13 containers at the Apapa Port in Lagos over trade infractions ranging from prohibited to expired and falsely declared goods, worth over N6.81 billion ‎ ‎The CGC stated this while speaking with newsmen at the APMT Terminal on Tuesday, where he said that customs officers uncovered the contraband through detailed scanning analysis and physical examination.   ‎ ‎On medical infractions, he disclosed that a 40-foot container laden with large quantities of expired pharmaceutical products, including Mixagrip Cold Caplets, Ladinax tablets, Chloroquine injections and Diclofenac tablets, while two 40-foot containers were ladened with large consignments of Hyegra 200 and Sildenafil Citrate unregistered pharmaceuticals.  ‎ ‎Giving further details of the seizures, the CGC said a 20-foot container had 800 cartons of Codeine (TPL CSC), concealed in toilet flushing cisterns and sanitary ware...

Kano / Jigawa Customs Seizes Smuggled Goods Worth N1.01bn

  ‎ ‎ The Kano/Jigawa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), says it intercepted various smuggled goods with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of over N1.01 billion between January 1 and March 10, 2026. ‎According to reports gathered, the Acting Customs Area Controller of the Command, Deputy Comptroller UU Adamu disclosed this on Tuesday during his maiden press briefing held at the Customs House in Bompai, Kano. ‎He said the seizures were made through intelligence-driven operations, coordinated patrols and strategic surveillance across major routes and border corridors in Kano and Jigawa states.
