Oyetola Felicitates SWDC Managing Director Charles Akinola at 70



The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency Dr Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, has congratulated his former Chief of Staff and current Managing Director of the South West Development Commission (SWDC),  Dr Charles Akindiji Akinola, on the occasion of his 70th birthday, describing him as an outstanding public servant, accomplished development strategist and trusted ally whose contributions have left an enduring mark on governance and national development. 


In a congratulatory message, Oyetola lauded Akinola's intellect, integrity and commitment to public service, noting that he had consistently demonstrated visionary leadership in every position he had occupied. He said Akinola's years of service as Chief of Staff during his administration as Governor of Osun State and later as Chief of Staff in the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, were characterised by diligence, strategic thinking and an uncommon ability to translate policy into measurable results.


The minister also commended Akinola for his distinguished service as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Marine and Blue Economy before his appointment as the pioneer Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the SWDC. He expressed confidence that Akinola's wealth of experience and proven leadership would continue to drive regional integration, economic growth and institutional development across the South-West. 


Oyetola described the celebrant as a seasoned public policy expert with more than three decades of experience spanning government, international development, academia and the private sector. He noted that Akinola's contributions to development planning, economic reforms and cross-sector partnerships have earned him national and international recognition. 


Akinola holds a doctorate in Agricultural Extension from the University of Ibadan and a Master's degree in Public Policy and Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School, where he was an Edward S. Mason Fellow. He also undertook executive studies at the University of Cambridge, Cranfield University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, further strengthening his expertise in governance, public policy and institutional development.  


Oyetola prayed for God's continued guidance, sound health and strength for the celebrant, expressing confidence that his wealth of knowledge, experience and passion for national development would continue to benefit Nigeria for many years to come.


“Your life has been defined by service, excellence and commitment to building stronger institutions and improving the lives of our people. I wish you many more years of good health, fulfilment and impactful service to our nation," the minister said.

NIMASA Reshuffles Management Team For Enhanced Efficiency And Inter-departmental Collaboration
