The Save Nigeria Freight Forwarders, Importers and Exporters Coalition (SNFFIEC) has honoured Assistant Comptroller Oluseun Adedeji Adegbite, the Customs Officer in charge of ENL Terminal, Apapa, Lagos, with its Meritorious Gold Award as the "Most Performed Bulk Terminal Officer of the Year 2025/2026.
The award, presented by the coalition under the leadership of its National Coordinator, Chief Osita Chukwudi, was in recognition of Adegbite's exceptional performance, transparency, professionalism and contributions to efficient cargo clearance operations at the terminal.
In a letter conveying the award, the coalition stated that Adegbite emerged as the recipient after a rigorous evaluation process conducted by its Board of Trustees and relevant committees during its first quarterly meeting.
According to the group, the Customs officer distinguished himself through exemplary leadership, honesty, calm disposition and commitment to quality service delivery, attributes that have positively impacted operations at the bulk cargo terminal.
The coalition noted that since ENL Terminal became a dedicated bulk cargo facility, Adegbite's performance had stood out among officers who had previously overseen the unit.
It further commended his ability to foster collaboration among government agencies, corporate stakeholders and operators within the logistics value chain, describing him as a bridge-builder whose approach has enhanced operational efficiency and stakeholder confidence.
"The major factor that earned you this award was your calmness, transparency and honesty that orchestrated qualitative service delivery. Our members are particularly impressed by your collaborative style of engagement with other government agencies and stakeholders operating within the command," the letter stated.
The group added that continuous monitoring and periodic evaluations of his professional conduct and achievements also contributed to his emergence as the most outstanding Bulk Cargo Unit Head Officer for the period under review.
Responding, Adegbite expressed gratitude to the coalition for finding him worthy of the award, describing the recognition as a motivation to do more in the service of the nation.
He said the award would further inspire him and his team to sustain the highest standards of professionalism, efficiency and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
According to him, the achievements being celebrated were the result of collective efforts by officers and men under his supervision, as well as the unwavering support of his family.
Adegbite also aligned his commitment with the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, noting that the leadership example set by the Customs boss continues to inspire officers across the service to pursue excellence and deliver quality service to stakeholders.
"We remain committed to excellence and will continue to give our best. This award is not just for me but for the entire team whose dedication made these achievements possible. We will continue to support the vision of the Comptroller-General and contribute to improving service delivery," he said.
The recognition comes amid ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Customs Service to improve trade facilitation, strengthen stakeholder engagement and enhance operational efficiency at the nation's ports.
