The Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), Port and Terminal Multi service Limited, (PTML), Chapter, yesterday, Thursday, 18th June 2026, witnessed a seamless leadership transition as Hajiya Nabila Nura Miko formally took over the leadership of the Charpter from the out-gone Chairperson, Mrs. Ifeoluwa Anani.
During a colourful handover ceremony held at the Commands headquarter in TinCan, the new Chairperson, Hajiya Nabila Miko accepted the leadership role with deep humility and a strong sense of responsibility expressing profound gratitude to the National President, Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, whose guidance and sterling leadership qualities according to her has continued to serve as a beacon of empowerment, welfare and service for COWA members nationwide.
"Her encouragement in keeping COWA members motivated is second to none. Under her visionary leadership , COWA continues to thrive as a beacon of Empowerment, welfare and service" Hajiya Miko stated.
The new Chairperson thanked her predecessor, Mrs. Ifeoluwa Anani, for her dedication and the solid foundation she has laid for the Chapter where she served with passion and integrity, and the impact of her tenure is visible across all chapters programmes.
While Pledging to be committed to building on the achievements and successes of her administration, she also promised breaking of new ground for the promotion of COWA objectives and the enhancement of the welfare of Customs officers’ wives in the command.
In her words, "As Chairperson, I am aware that the PTML Chapter has executed several impactful programmes. which include; International Women’s Day Celebration, Sensitization Workshop – “COWA Healthy Wife, Wealthy Life", Breast Cancer Awareness Programme, End of Year Outreach. Participation in Green Border Initiative, School Adoption and Environmental Sensitization Lecture".
She went further to assure that in line with the National Headquarters’ agenda, her administration will prioritize and sustain three key areas, which are;
Welfare: - Strengthening support systems for wives of officers, especially during challenging times.
Empowerment:- Expanding skills acquisition and financial independence programmes for members.
Community Service:- Deepening our impact through health, education, and environmental initiatives.
She therefore solicited for the cooperation, prayers and support of every member of COWA PTML Chapter, the Command Management and all stakeholders to join hands together to move the Chapter to a greater heights.
While addressing the gathering, the Customs Area Controller of Command, Deputy Comptroller N.I. Miko, commended the outgone leadership for its contributions and to COWA members for their role in supporting officers through stable family structures.
"While officers are engaged in revenue collection, trade facilitation and anti-smuggling operations, their wives play a critical role in maintaining stable homes that enable effective service delivery”, he said.
He congratulated the new Chairperson and expressed confidence in her ability to build on the solid foundation laid by the previous administration.
He also pledged the Command’s continued support for the association through logistics, facilities and moral backing
He further acknowledged the leadership of the COWA National President, Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, for her visionary leadership which has continued to strengthen all chapters nationwide and her guidance which is felt all over the service.
Speaking on behalf of the out-gone Acting Chairperson, Mrs. Anyi Akhigbe, the Vice Chairperson of the association conveyed Mrs. Anani’s gratitude to God and appreciation to the Command Management and members for their cooperation throughout her tenure, she expressed confidence in the new leadership and pledged continued support for the incoming administration.
