‎AMATO VISITS PORTS AUTHORITY POLICE (WESTERN) COMMAND ‎... INTRODUCES NEWLY INAUGURATED STATE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AND TRUCKS RESCUE TEAM

The Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Oluwatoyin Iyabode Agbaminoja, psc, mnips, recently received members of the Association of Maritime Truck Owners (AMATO) during a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters aimed at introducing the Association’s newly inaugurated State Executive Committee and its operational Trucks Rescue Team.

‎Speaking during the visit, the leadership of the Association led by it's national president, Chief Remi Ogungbemi, according to a press release issued by Police Public Relations Officer

‎Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, ASP Isaac Hundeyin, anipr expressed appreciation to the Command, for its continuous efforts in maintaining security and orderliness within the port environment and along major logistics corridors.

‎The delegation which had in attendance the new state chairman of AMATO, Alhaji Saro Ahmed noted that the newly constituted executive committee is committed to fostering professionalism, discipline and collaboration among truck operators within the maritime sector.

‎The Association also formally presented its Trucks Rescue Team, established to provide rapid support and emergency response to broken down or distressed trucks operating within and around the port access roads, with the objective of reducing traffic obstruction, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing safety.

‎

‎In her remarks, the Commissioner of Police commended the Association for its proactive initiatives and emphasized the importance of stakeholder collaboration in sustaining security, safety, and seamless movement within the nation’s ports and adjoining transport corridors. She further charged the newly inaugurated executives and members of the rescue team to operate within the ambit of the law and maintain close synergy with security agencies in the discharge of their responsibilities.

‎The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s commitment to supporting lawful initiatives that contribute positively to port operations, public safety, and the economic growth of the maritime sector.

‎The visit concluded with discussions on strengthening partnership between the Police and maritime transport stakeholders towards ensuring a safer and more efficient port environment.

NCS Medical Team Trains Apapa Area Command Officers On First Aid

NCS Seizes 13 Containers of Unwholesome Imports

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command has intercepted 13 containers with over 7.6 tonnes of cannabis sativa, 170,000 bottles of codeine syrup, security-sensitive drones and large quantities of expired consumer and pharmaceutical products. The Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, PhD, MFR, disclosed this during a press briefing held at the Apapa Area Command in the presence of the Customs Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba and heads of other sister agencies earlier today, 10th September, 2026, according to CGC, the seized consignments have a combined duty-paid value of ₦43.59 billion.
