...PROMISES ENHANCED ANTI SMUGGLING AND REVENUE GENERATION
As the Nigeria Customs Service at most commands continues with the handing over and taking over ceremony, the Kebbi Area Command joined with a formal change in leadership as a new Comptroller officially assumed duty as the Customs Area Controller of the command.
The handover ceremony took place on Monday, 8th September 2025, at the Command’s Conference Room and was attended by the Command’s management team, officers and men of the Command and members of the press.
In his opening remarks, the outgoing Customs Area Controller Comptroller CC Nwokorie according to a press statement from the command's Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs SC Mohammed Tajuddeen Salisu highlighted key achievements during his tenure. These included surpassing the Command’s revenue target by 13.9% within eight months, introducing a weekly exercise and biweekly medical check-up for personnel and inaugurating and commissioning the Secretariat of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA) in the command.
He expressed his gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for the opportunity to serve and lead the Command.
Following the official exchange of leadership, the new Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim, expressed sincere appreciation to the CGC for entrusting him with the responsibility.
Comptroller Ibrahim emphasized core focus areas including discipline, robust anti-smuggling operations, enhanced revenue performance, effective border management, stakeholder engagement and compliance sensitization, as well as personnel welfare and capacity building.
The ceremony concluded with both Comptrollers touring the Command for an official handover, following the signing of the handover notes.
