Youths Empowerment: Somolu LGA Chairman Trains Over 222 Youths In Tech And Digital Skills


In a bid to equip and empower youths to meet up with digital literacy, the Somolu Local Government Area of Lagos State organized a 3-days Tech and Digital skill training for youths and children in Shomolu 


The training, where no fewer than 222 youths in the area have benefited from the 3-day tech and digital skills training for youths, covering UI/UX Design, Web Development/Coding, and Digital Marketing.


The Executive Chairman of Somolu LGA, Abdulhamed Salawu while Speaking at the presentation of certificates to participants at the end of the program, said that the aim of the initiative is to create digital literacy programs for youth and adults and establish community networks and digital hubs while supporting local startups and entrepreneurs in the tech sector.



He also said the skill up initiative is positioned to provide critical skilled training, special support in ICT and business venture entrepreneurship.


"As we gather here, I am reminded of the immense potential that ICT holds for transforming our community. It is our duty as leaders to harness this potentials while ensuring that Somolu and its vibrant youth remain at the forefront of innovation and progress.


Inspired by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu's THEMES PLUS AGENDA, our administration has been committed to creating a customized policy to cater to the human capital development of our youths. To achieve this, we established Somolu Tech Intervention (SoTech)." He said.


"We are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking initiative, elevating 40 outstanding youths who have excelled in our ICT skill acquisition programs to advanced, free scholarship opportunities" He concluded.


Also speaking at the event,  the Special Assistant to the Local Government Chairman on ICT, Mr. Kola Mohammed said the initiative is an on going program to educate the youths of Somolu in information technology.


"We have been able to train 222 youths, we picked 40 Best students out of all as directed by the honorable chairman to give laptops and other equipment to help them in their line of endeavour." He said.
