KNIGHTS OF ST. JOHN (KSJI) TAKES A SWIPE AT BAD LEADERSHIPS IN NIGERIA

NPA Set To Deploy Truck E-Call- Up System In Onne To Boost Eastern Port Development

In line with NPA's management’s efforts to further boost the development and patronage of the Eastern Ports to increase operational efficiency, the Nigerian Ports Authority NPA has expressed its readiness to deploy the Electronic Call-Up System for trucks at the Onne Ports Complex as approved by the Federal Executive Council. NPA MD Replaces Port Managers of Six Ports

The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho has approved the replacement of six Port Managers to pilot the affairs of the ports. In a recent disposition order signed by the Managing Director, Mr. Adebowale Lawal Ibrahim is to take charge of the Lagos Ports Complex as the Port Manager, while Mr. Abubakar Sani Isa becomes the Port Manager of the Tin Can Island Port. Also, Onne Port will be handled by Mr. Abdulrahman Hussaini while Mr. Sa’adu Dahiru Mohammed will manage  Delta Ports Warri. Others are Mr. Ekine Ibifiri Alex for  Calabar Port and Mr. Emmanuel Anda becomes the Port Manager of Lekki Port The Port Manager of Rivers Port, Mrs Kenechi Edith Okezie retains her position. Customs Seizes 12 Containers of Expired /Unregistered Drugs Worth N1.8bn, At Apapa Port

The Nigeria Customs Service NCS has seized twelve (12) containers ladden with expired and unregistered pharmaceuticals estimated to worth over One Billion Eight hundred Million (#1.8b) naira at the Apapa ports complex. Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR  disclosed this to media practitioners during a press briefing at the headquarters of Apapa command in Lagos The CGC who described the items as questionable medicaments said the Service is determined to track, identify and intercept drug imports that are detrimental to human life. The Governor of Borno state Professor  Babagana Umara Zulum has called for more collaborations and partnerships between the Nigeria Customs Service and his State government in order to enhance border security and trade facilitation. Zulum Assures Completion Of Maiduguri Inland Dry Port Within Six Months

The  Governor of Bornu state, Prof Babagana Zulum, has assured that his administration will make sure the Maiduguri Inland Dry Port (IDP) project which was abandoned after about 10 percent work as a result of Boko Haram insurgency in the state.would be completed in six months. The governor, who disclosed this after a meeting with the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Barr Pius Akutah and his management team said the IDP if completed would be of huge economic benefit to the federal government and the people of Borno State. Gulf of Guinea Security: NIMASA, Chatham House Set To Engage UN Security Council 

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, and Chatham House London have agreed that the issue of Maritime Security in the Gulf of Guinea should be raised at the United Nations Security Council meeting this month, emphasising the progress made by NIMASA in combating piracy and sea robbery in the region. This decision was reached during a session between Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, and Director of the Africa Programme at Chatham House, Dr. Alex Vines, accompanied by his team. Collects Over N201B Revenue In Single Month ... Genrates N1.2tr in 7 Months , The Apapa Command of Nigeria Customs Service has made yet another outstanding record breaking performance in the area of revenue generation in the month of July 2024 with the generation of the sum of N201,853,406,964.61, showing the highest monthly collection in the history of Nigeria Customs Service.  The command also posted a total revenue of N1,227,431,323,016.24  generated between January and July 2024, which shows that the collected revenue for seven months of 2024 is higher than the total revenue collected for the twelve months of 2023. HUNGER PROTEST: Customs To Start PBAT Directive On Food Import Waiver Within One Week

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said it would start implementation of the directive by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for waiver of taxes on food and drug imports within the next one week. This was stated by  the Comptroller-General of NCS, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR on Tuesday, August 6, during a joint press briefing by all service chiefs and heads of all security agencies at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja The CGC also added that the delay in the implementation was due to the need to work out details with the Ministry of Finance. The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency NIMASA and the Abade-Toru Manga Community Development Initiative have resolved to adopt an Alternative Dispute Resolution ADR mechanism to resolve a matter brought against the Agency before the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions. The Abade-Toru Manga Community Development Initiative had petitioned the committee over alleged failure of the Agency to establish educational and skills acquisition projects in the coastal communities as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility CSR. However, in a twist of events, both parties agreed to seek peaceful settlement through Alternative Dispute Resolution when the matter was called up last week.
