Ferdinand Agu, Former NIMASA DG Passes On


The former Director General of the defunct National Maritime Authority (NMA) now Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Mr. Ferdinand Agu MFR has died.


The former DG who was in attendance at a traditional wedding in Abuja until late Thursday night, died from a heart attack at the early hours of Friday.


According to "TheNiche" report, a source close to the deceased confirmed the death by saying, “It is true. This is devastating news. I spoke with him yesterday. He was hale and hearty. We exchanged our usual jokes. Now, this! I am just back from the hospital. His remains have been taken to the mortuary. This life is meaningless.”


Mr. Agu, who was a  respected figure in the maritime and architectural sectors was renowned for his extensive experience both in the boardroom and through governmental advisory roles.


He was Senior Special Assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan from 2011 to 2015, his tenure marked a significant phase in his career, during which he garnered numerous accolades, some of which includes, the Award of Excellence by The Conference of Commissioners for Commerce and Industry in Nigeria.  Distinguished National Merit Award in Transportation for outstanding contributions to the growth and development of Transport Professionalism In Nigeria by The Centre For Transport Studies, Bisi Onabanjo University, Ago-iwoye, Nigeria, Most Outstanding Maritime Personality Of The Year (2004) given By The 7th Maritime Media Award Of The Maritime Media Ltd, just to mention a few.  He was a also Member of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (MFR).

Amaechi Calls on Nigerians To Boycot Elections Over Economic Hardship
