CP Ports Felicitates With Ports Stakeholders At Eid ... Assures Of Peaceful Celebration

The Commissioner of Police, Nigeria Ports Authority (Western Command), Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola, has felicitated with stakeholders and the port business community on the occasion of the 2024 EID-EL-KABIR celebration assuring all stakeholders of peace throughout the celebration.

In a statement signed by the Command's Public Relations Officer, ASP Isaac Hundeyin, the CP noted that adequate security around the nation’s ports during and after the celebration has be made. He added that human and material operational assets have been deployed to strategically cover Apapa Port, Tincan island port, Lekki Deep-Sea port and other lighter terminals.

Part of the statement reads; “The Area Commander, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and other specialized units like the Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit (EOD) and the Canine (K9) units have all been deployed for the prevention of crimes.

“The port police marine department have also been directed to properly patrol the ports perimeters to avoid any incursion through the waterways".

The CP therefore enjoins all to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice, peace and love which the season is centered on while remaining vigilant to report any untoward or suspicious activity around them to the nearest police station.

Breaking News: CBN Ordered To Immediately Suspend Enforcement Of Cuber-Security Levy

Hon. Tajudeen Abbass Speaker of the House of Representatives The House of Representatives has ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to immediately suspend the enforcement of the controversial cybersecurity levy. The House took this decision following a motion raised by Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda on behalf of all members. The House had expressed concern that the circular issued by the CBN could be misunderstood by Nigerians, it however, noted that the directive does not align with the principles outlined in section 44(2a) of the cybercrime Act regarding the recipients responsible for paying the levy. The House urged the CBN to promptly retract its previous circular regarding the levy’s enforcement and instead publish a new circular aligned with the Act’s provisions. The cybersecurity levy was introduced by CBN through a circular to all banks on May 6, 2024, in accordance with the stipulations of the cybercrime Act.
