ACG HAMMI SWOMEN BOWS OUT OF SERVICE IN GRAND STYLE

 ...AS ACG SAIDU YUSUF TAKES CHARGE OF ZONE ‘A’ 


The Nigeria Customs Zone ‘A’ Headquarters, on Wednesday, 29 May 2024, held a befitting retirement/handing over ceremony to commemorate the outstanding career of the Assistant Comptroller-General Zone ‘A’, Hammi Swomen.


In her welcome speech, the Comptroller Revenue Zone ‘A’, Comptroller Oluremi Omisore extolled the virtues of the outgoing Zonal Coordinator, describing him as an excellent leader with many admirable characteristics.


During the handing over ceremony at the Zonal Headquarters in Ikeja, Controllers present showered glowing encomiums on the Zonal Coordinator describing him as a man of few words and great wisdom; a thoroughbred professional with a firm grasp of the workings of the Nigeria Customs Service.

He was also lauded for his gentlemanly qualities, noting that he comes across as a compassionate, fair-minded and compassionate leader.


The retiring ACG, in his response, gave gratitude to God, the Comptroller- General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, colleagues, the Management of Zone ‘A’, Heads of Units and officers of the Zonal headquarters for their cooperation and support in making his stay in the Service worthwhile. In his words, “I’m very emotional today. I’m happy and overwhelmed by the show of love I’ve experienced here today.”

He went further and implored the current Management structure to mentor younger officers in order to bridge the generational gap in the Service. The outgoing ACG ended his speech by thanking everyone and prayed for God’s wisdom for the leadership of the Service to steer it in the right direction.


In his vote of thanks, the incoming Zonal Coordinator ‘A’,  ACG Saidu Yusuf eulogized his predecessor’s exceptional qualities, qualifying him as a principled, hardworking and intelligent officer. He said,  “Having worked closely with the outgoing ACG, I would describe him as hardworking and intelligent, a man who goes by the books. As he retires today, I pray for his good health, happiness and fulfillment of life".

NCS Medical Team Trains Apapa Area Command Officers On First Aid

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) medical team yesterday trained officers and men of the Apapa Area Command on basic first aid training. ‎ ‎The Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba according to a press release issued by the public relations officer of the command, Superintendent of Customs SC JT Ayagbalo described the initiative as a crucial investment in workplace safety and operational readiness. ‎ ‎In his welcome address, Comptroller Oshoba emphasized that the programme reflects the priority placed on staff welfare by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR. ‎ ‎He described first aid knowledge as a universal life skill that every adult should possess, especially officers as they are frequently exposed to high-risk operational environments. ‎ ‎ Oshoba noted that simple but timely interventions such as; CPR, bleeding control, choking relief and stroke recognition often determine whether a victim survives, fully recov...
