Unilag Alma Mater Celebrates 29 Years of Excellence


 The University of Lagos Guest House was a beehive of activities over the weekend as former students of the Department of History and Strategic Studies 1994 set gathered together for a reunion after graduation about three decades ago


Camaraderie, conviviality, and nolstagia rented the air as they recounted their experiences during their undergraduate years and post graduation period  


In a welcome address, the Chairman of the forum, Chief Luka Igbonoba, thanked God for his mercy and benevolence over his colleagues, describing the occasion as emotional seeing his colleagues again after many years of separation. 


Igbonoba, the former Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, suggested that the reunion should be an annual event which, according to him, would avail members the opportunity to dissect some of the problems affecting them and proffer practicable solutions. 



 The Chairman called on his colleagues to see themselves as an entity and work as a team to better their lots, enjoining them to be their  brother's  keeper.


After a minute silence for the repose of the souls of the departed colleagues, the Chairman commended the organising Committee of the 29 years grand reunion headed by Pastor (Mrs.) Christy Ben Fumike popularly called Mummy G.O and other members for putting up a befitting event that made the day a memorable one urging the committee to start preparations for the 30th anniversary of  the forum coming up next year 


In a remark, the chairman of the organising committee,  Mrs Christy Ben- Akinduro, thanked members for attending the program promised that the 30th anniversary of the group would be more prosperous and enjoyable 


The event was attended by Kola Alao; Charles Fayeun; Wasiu Jimoh; Pastor Ginikanwa Nwazoria, and Mrs. Meg Ansa-Cole.  


Others were Barrister Sanmi Olorungbemi; Prince Ademola Adesanya; the Deputy Registrar, Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu Ode, Dayo Daramola; an insurance guru, Oluwole Olayanju; a seasoned writer and publisher, Mr Alex Nwachukwu; Mr. Charles Ezeh;  Opeolu Akinola; Otunba Femi Orioye, among others.

KLT Command Generates N36.6 Billion In 5 Months As Compt. Edeldouk TAKES Charge

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal command of the Nigeria Customs Service, said it has generated the sum of N36.6 billion between January and May this year. This was revealed by Comptroller Martina Tilley-Gyado while giving her valedictory speech yesterday, Friday, 31st May 2024 at the command. This, according to her represents 75 percent increase when compared with sum generated within the same period of last year. Comptroller Tilley-Gyado who handed over the mantle of leadership of the command to Comptroller Joy Edeldouk appreciated the officers as well as stakeholders for their support throughout her stay at the command.   She pointed out that the command relied on the stemming of cargoes to its terminals even though the cargo throughput was low.
