EASTERN MARINE DEMONSTRATING COMMITMENT TO WILDLIFE PROTECTION … SEIZES PANGOLIN SCALES, ELEPHANT TUSKS OF AND OTHER ASSORTED ILLEAL ITEMS

  The Eastern Marine Command of Nigeria Customs Service while demonstrating its commitment to the protection of wildlife and combating smuggling through the waterways in Nigeria, recently made a significant breakthrough with the seizure of a substantial quantity of pangolin scales, elephant tusks and sacks of used second hand shoes.   The command in a press statement from the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SC.    NE TANGWA   said the seizures took place in the south-south coastal water-ways along Ibaka-Bakasi beach highlighting Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to the Convention On International Trade In Endangered Species of Wild Fauna And Flora (CITES).    The statement said the operation, which was led by diligent officers of the command, resulted in the confiscation of a sizeable consignment of pangolin scales and elephant tusks amounting to  365.4 kg  and six large sacks of used second hand shoes with a total duty paid value ( DPV ) of Six Hundred And Eighty Million, Two H

Attack On Facility: Gov. Buni Condoles With Customs Over Death Of Officer

  The Yobe state Governor,     Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, has condoled with the management of the Nigerian Customs Service and the family of the officer killed by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Geidam on Saturday during the attack on Customs facility in the state. Governor Buni who, according to press release signed by his  DG, Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Mohammed, described the attack and the sad loss of the officer as sad and unfortunate as the state enjoys relative peace now. He however said the attack should be seen as a wake up call for the security agents and the citizens not to    be carried away by the relative peace currents enjoyed in the state but to be more vigilant. NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE REPELS ATTACK ON ITS FACILITY YOBE STATE … Loses An Officer In The Attack

  The Nigerian Customs Service said it has repelled an attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents on its facility in Geidam town, Yobe State   According to a statement on behalf of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, by the National Public Relations Officer of the Service, CSC Abdullahi Maiwada, the timely reinforcement from the Nigerian Army had thwarted the attack on the customs office, but unfortunately an officer paid the supreme prize with his life.    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR has approved the confirmation of Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service. The appointment which according to a statement by Willie Bassey, the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, takes effect from 19th October, 2023 and his tenure is in accordance with the extant provisions of the Public Service Rules (PSR). While congratulations the CGC on his confirmation, the President tasks him to bring his wealth of experience to bear on his new assignment. You may recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had appointed Bashir Adewale Adeniyi on the 19th of June in an acting capacity.

Uche Ejesieme, Family Bids Farewell To Pa Ejesieme In Grand Style

NIMASA, OTHERS RECEIVES BPSR RECOGNITION FOR EMBRACING DIGITAL REFORMS.

CBN Lifts FOREX Restriction on 43 Items After 8 Years

  After 8 years of Forex Restrictions on 43 import items     by the Central Bank of Nigerians (CBN) which many had believed is the root course of untold hardship to the country, the apex bank on Thursday announced the removal of the restriction on those items. By this announcement, importers of rice, cement, poultry products and others goods on the list can now access foreign exchange directly from the central bank. According to a statement from the Director, Corporate Communications, CBN said all importers will now be allowed to purchase forex in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market.  The statement reads in parts “ “As part of its responsibility to ensure price stability, the CBN will boost liquidity in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market by interventions from time to time. FOU Zone “A”Generates N73M from DN …Seizes Eight Trailer Loads OfForeign parboiled Rice And Other Goods Worth N1.8B

  The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) through the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘A’ has generated a whopping sum of Seventy-two Million, Eight Hundred and Seven Thousand, Twenty-five Naira, Eleven Kobo (N72,807,025.11) as revenue arising from documentary checks and the issuance of demand notices (DNs) on consignments that were found to have underplayed their customs duty Disclosing this    to newsmen on Friday, the Acting Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR who was flanged by the Zonal Coordinator, Zone A, ACG Mohammed Jibo and other senior Management team at the FOU Zone A headquarters Ikeja Lagos, also informed that the unit within the month of September seized a total of 7,029 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice which is approximately eight trailer loads of foreign parboiled rice and other goods all with a duty paid value of One Billion, Seven Hundred and Fifty-five Million, Eighty Thousand, Eight Hundred and Ninety-eight Naira (1,755,080,898). PTML Customs Seizes 20X20 Containers of Expired Tomato Concentrate …Hands Over Consignment To NAFDAC

  The Ports and Terminal Multi-Service Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the seizure of 20×20 foot containers of expired tomato concentrate. Announcing this remarkable seizure on Friday after inspecting the containers, the Acting Controller General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR said vigilant officers of the PTML command which is ably led by Compt. SA Yusuf on the 8th of August, 2023, during a routine examination uncovered 20 containers of expired tomato concentrate which was imported from Spain and were falsely declared as containing almond shells. The CGC revealed that the offending importation were all under the auspices of a company identified as Nikecristy Investment Limited, which in each container, 80 drums were meticulously arranged, amounting to a total of 1,600 drums. The duty paid value of this illegal cargo is a staggering sum of one hundred and sixteen million, two hundred and eleven thousand, seven hundred and twenty-fiv
