PBAT APPROVES APPOINTMENT OF NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM FOR NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE

Following the appointment of the Acting Comptroller General of Customs   Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR on 19 June 2023 and the retirement of some  management members in the Service, the Commander in Chief of the Armed  Forces Federal Republic Nigeria, President Bola Ahmad Tinubu GCFR has  approved the appointment of three Deputy Comptroller Generals (DCGs) and three Assistant Comptroller Generals   According to a statement from the Service spokes person, CSC Abdullahi Maiwada, the appointed DCGs includes, DCG Festus Okun, DCG Musa Baba Abdullahi and DCG Albashir Hamisu while the list of ACGs includes, ACG Kamardeen    Olumoh; ACG Auwal Baba Mohammed and  ACG Adeogun Alajogun While thanking the retired members of the management for their meritorious  service, the Acting CGC,Bashir Adewale  Adeniyi MFR congratulated the newly appointed Officers and charged them to  redouble their efforts to ensure the Service achieves greater heights in its  mandates of revenue generation, suppression of sm

Acting CGC Adeniyi: An Encouraging New Era In Nigeria Customs Service.

The reception he has received from well-wishers and the impressive results achieved under his leadership have been nothing short of remarkable. Adeniyi's tenure has breathed new life into the Customs Service, fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie and success. His approach of engaging with various agencies, installations, and stakeholders has proven to be a winning strategy, leading to astonishing seizures in just a few weeks. One of the notable stride was on 5th of July at Ports Terminal and Multi Services Limited Command where an examination of a 40ft container revealed a concealment of 10 dangerous arms and various rounds of live ammunition inside a plastic drum. APAPA CUSTOMS GENERATES N502 BILLION …STEPS UP COMPLIANCE THROUGH SYSTEM PROFILING, MANIFEST TRACKING

The Apapa Command of Nigeria Customs Service has collected a total of N502,987,516,219.26 from January 2023 to date and made 16 seizures with     a duty paid value (DPV) of N1.4 billion within the same period. The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Command , Comptroller Auwal Baba Mohammed, according to the press release by the command Public Relations Officer, CSC A Usman, described the revenue collection and seizures made as a fallouts of increased compliance, urged officers to redouble    their efforts in revenue collection, trade facilitating and strict enforcement of anti smuggling activities. The statement revealed that the command, on July 20, 2023, made a collection of N9.2b which is the highest daily collection ever achieved by the command in its existence since the port was established It was also revealed that    seizures made within the period comprised of prohibited drugs, used tyres, rice, vegetable oil, and    sundry items. NPA DECRIES INCREASING EXTORTION ALONG THE PORT ACCESS ROADS

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has raised alarm against increasing extortions goin on along the access roads of the Lagos and Tin Can Island Port Complexes.   This is coming on the heels of the    clearance operations the Authority undertook on 16th to 18th July to rid the Port corridor of shanties and illegal erections which harbor the criminal elements who perpetrate these acts of extortion.  On the eve of the port corridor clearance operations carried out in collaboration with Lagos State Government earlier this month, the Managing Director /CEO of    NPA Mohammed Bello Koko had lamented that "these acts of extortion and allied illegalities are injurious to trade facilitation, which is our core function and we cannot allow these nefarious characters make nonsense of the gateways to the national economy which the ports constitutes". Jamoh Extols Virtues of Late Prince Paeke,  …Commissions  Hall in His Honour

The Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dr. Bashir Yusuf Jamoh, OFR, has lauded the life style and ethical behaviour of Late Prince Paeke Dongban, who until his death on July 23, 2023 was an employee of the agency.   While commissioning a multi-purpose hall built in honour of Late Paeke in Ngootlong, Plateau State, Jamoh described the deceased as a morally upright young man who was ethically conscious and a good example in the midst of his peers.   According to a statement from NIMASA, the DG while describing prince Paeke who was born on 29th January 1984  but died on 23rd July 2022 from the workplace perspective, said the deceased was known for punctuality, commitment to work and sincerity to the cause of nation building.   Dr. Jamoh said "An emotional void created in the hearts of the NIMASA family members by the demise of Prince is filled by the noble deeds he was noted for and the many positive ways he touched lives at work and at pl

Operation Free Port Corridors:, FRSC Set To introduce Mobile Courts

In order to further strengthen the traffic management on the Lagos port access roads which has gained momentum since the launch of the Expanded Port Standing Task Team (PSTT), the National Coordinator of the Presidential Port Standing Task Team (PSTT), Mr Moses Fadipe together with the Lagos Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Babatunde Farinloye have agreed to introduce Mobile Courts within the ports corridors They    took the decision during a courtesy visit by the PSTT boss to the FRSC Commander in the Ojudu area of Lagos. After reviewing the progress of the ‘Operation Free Port Corridors’ they jointly agreed that the collaborative efforts of multiple government agencies including security agencies, FRSC, Apapa Local Government etc; under the PSTT has yielded positive results that needs to be sustained. CG Charges Communities to Support Security Agencies To Enhance Border Security

The host communities and stakeholders operating within the Seme Badagry Krake and it’s environs have being charged to support security agencies operating within their areas to tackle insecurity and smuggling activities across the border areas. TinCan Customs Increases Nigeria’s Non-Oil Export Trade By 291,436.43MT Within First Half Of Year 2023

The TinCan     Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service within the first half of this year increased the Nigeria’s Non-Oil Export trade as the command made an impressive revenue drive in the sector with an increasing     291,436.43     Metric tonnes (MT) through Free On Board (FOB) between January and June 2023. The Area Controller of the Command , Comptroller Adekunle Oloyede in a statement on Thursday, said in terms of volume (MT) and value (FOB), the export trade recorded an exponential growth within the period under review. According    to a statement made available by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Okwara, the CAC said comparatively, between January to June 2023, the tonnage of the goods exported through Tin Can Island Port Complex (TICPC) increased from 138,246.5 (MT) to 291,436.43 (MT) ; representing an increase of 110.8% over the same period in the previous year 2022. Two Arrested As NCS Intercepts Arms and Ammunitions in Lagos

The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS arrested two suspects as the service intercepted a total of thirty-one (31) rifles and ammunition concealed in plastic drums and sacks of charcoal within the first two weeks of July 2023   The Ag. Comptroller General of the Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, who along side his management team currently on a working visit in the zone A, Lagos made this known at a press briefing held at the Zone A headquarters Ikeja, Lagos on Monday, 17th July 2023.  He stated that the Customs Intelligence Unit (CIU) in a joint operation with the Nigeria Police, Department of State Security, DSS and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA while carrying out a 100% examination of a 1x40ft container on the 5th of July, 2022 at the Ports & Terminal Multiservices Limited, uncovered ten (10) dangerous arms and ammunition concealed inside a plastic drum.
