SEAFARER CERTIFICATION.: NIMASA, NIGERIAN NAVY TO DEEPEN COLLABORATION

The Director General (DG) of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr.Bashir Jamoh, OFR, has restated the Agency’s commitment to issuing appropriate certification to qualified men of the Nigerian Navy who undergo requisite trainings at the Nigerian Naval Training Command, NAVTRAC.

The DG stated this when a delegation from NAVTRAC led by the Flag Officer Commanding, Rear Admiral Patrick Nwatu paid a working visit to the Agency, he noted the need for collaboration to enhance capacity development and professionalism in line with global best practices.

Jamoh, who urged NAVTRAC to close identified gaps to ensure training and the curriculum of the Naval Training Command is in line with the curricula of international training institutes for maritime professionals, with particular reference to the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW), however, emphasized the need for both the Nigerian Navy and NIMASA to keep collaborating for the good of the nation and the quest to sustain successes in the fight against piracy in the Gulf of Guinea.

In his remarks, the Flag Officer Commanding NAVTRAC, Rear Admiral Nwatu, assured the DG of the commitment of the Nigerian Navy to developing the capacity of its personnel along professional lines,which will ultimately lead to enhanced productivity in the Navy.

NIMASA Reshuffles Management Team For Enhanced Efficiency And Inter-departmental Collaboration

I n an exercise aimed at strengthening inter-departmental collaboration and inject new energy into the system to further improve performance and enhance efficiency across the maritime sector, The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has announced a strategic redeployment of its management staff as part of efforts to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery in line with its core mandate.
