CONMMEP MOURNS THE PASSING OF BARR. MARGARET ORAKWUSI

The Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP),has expressed sadness over the death of an outstanding maritime practitioner and Chairman of Nigerian Ship Owners Forum, Barr. Margaret Nkem Onyema- Orakwusi.


CONMMEP, through its National President, Alhaji Tunde Umar-Daniah, in a letter he personally signed and made available to the media, described late Barr. Orakwusi as an Icon, a great voice and a patriotic Nigerian whose contributions to the maritime industry earned her a place in the compendium of “Maritime Personalities of All Times”.


In the letter, CONMMEP expressed shock over the death of Barrister (Mrs) Margaret Onyema- Orakwusi, saying that she died when her wealth of knowledge was much needed for the grooming of more future role models that would have risen to replicate and uphold her values in the maritime industry and other fields of endeavour.


The President of the group, Alhaji Tunde Umar-Daniah, prayed God Almighty to grant the family of the late Barr. Orakwusi the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss while also admonishing them to find solace in the fact that death is the inevitable end of all mortals.


Barr. Orakwusi, a popular name in the maritime industry, before her death, was the Chief Executive Officer of Morbod Group.

NIMASA Reshuffles Management Team For Enhanced Efficiency And Inter-departmental Collaboration

I n an exercise aimed  at strengthening  inter-departmental collaboration and inject new energy into the system to further improve performance and enhance efficiency across the maritime sector, The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has announced a strategic redeployment of its management staff as part of efforts to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery in line with its core mandate.   Under the new structure, according to a press statement issued by Mr. Edward Osagie FNIPR,  Head, Public Relations Officer of the agency, a total of 56 management staff were affected in the exercise.
