Customs Service To Pay #100M Compensation For Unlawful Killing


The Presiding Judge of the Federal High Court sitting in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, Justice  Babagana Ashigar, has ordered the Nigeria Customs Service to pay the sum of One hundred Million Naira as compensation to the families of late Abdurrashed Sani who was killed by Customs operatives in Kebbi State.

This followed a judgement delivered on the case of unlawful killing  by a Customs operatives on late Abdurrashed Sani who was on his way to the farm on November, 10, 2020,  along Bunza-Kamba road in Fingilla village of Dandi local government area of Kebbi State.

Speaking to Radio Nigeria, the counsel to the deceased, Barrister Umar Aminu Kalgo, said the unlawful killing of late Abdurrashed Sani, was contrary to his fundamental human right to Life as enshrined in section 33 (1) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

He said while delivering his verdict, Justice Babagana Ashigar, apart from awarding the compensation also directed the Service to issue the deceased family with a public apology.

Barrister Kalgo said that, late sani left behind two wives, one out of which was heavily pregnant and four children.

The father of the deceased, Malam Muhammadu Sani Bunzu, who file the case demanding justice for unlawful killing of his son, expressed satisfaction with the court ruling.

NCS Medical Team Trains Apapa Area Command Officers On First Aid
