NCS Loses A Senior Officer

  The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has announced the passing on of Comptroller Danlami Haruna which sad event took place on Monday, 30th of May 2022 at the Abuja General hospital after a brief illness at the age of 59. According to a statement by the National Public Relations Officer of the service Timi Bomodi, t he Comptroller General of Customs Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), and the entire Officers and men commiserate with the family and friends of Late Comptroller Danlami Haruna. Until his death, Compt. Haruna was the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Bauchi/Gombe Command and  hailed from Donga Local Government Area of  Taraba state. He held a Bachelor's Degree in Geography from Bayero University Kano and was enlisted into the Nigeria Customs in 1990 as cadet Assistant Superintendent. Comptroller Haruna took over the mantle of leadership of the Command on June, 21st, 2021. He had an outstanding career as a general duty officer. The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo (right) and Director General, NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh   The  arrival of Nigerian Naval Ship NNS KADA will greatly enhance security in the Nigerian maritime domain. ISPS Code Key Component Of Maritime Security Architecture In Nigeria - Jamoh

The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dr. Bashir Jamoh says that the implementation of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS), is a major component of the security architecture NIMASA is implementing in the Nigerian maritime domain. Jamoh stated this while receiving  the Deputy Head of International Maritime Security Operations Team (IMSOT), Jim Hamilton who led a team on a working visit to assess the level of compliance of some Ports facilities in the country with the ISPS Code. The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has told Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State that the security challenge facing Nigeria today was not ordinary, but assured that God’s intervention was real and inevitable . NPA Receives IMO Team On Port Community System Implementation

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) on Monday received the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) team saddled with the development and implementation of the Port Community System (PCS) at Nigerian ports. NPA revealed this on it’s official Twitter handle stating that the PCS is a technological tool that will help manage data exchange and drive automation at the nations ports. According to the Authority, “The International Maritime Organization (IMO) headquarters is working with the Authority to develop a Port Community System (PCS) for data exchange for its Port complexes.  “Today, the Management Team, led by the Executive Director Finance & Administration, Ms. Adenrele Adesina, received the in - Country IMO Consultants to discuss the Phase II implementation of the Port Community System".

Customs Service To Pay #100M Compensation For Unlawful Killing

The Presiding Judge of the Federal High Court sitting in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, Justice  Babagana Ashigar, has ordered the Nigeria Customs Service to pay the sum of One hundred Million Naira as compensation to the families of late Abdurrashed Sani who was killed by Customs operatives in Kebbi State. This followed a judgement delivered on the case of unlawful killing  by a Customs operatives on late Abdurrashed Sani who was on his way to the farm on November, 10, 2020,  along Bunza-Kamba road in Fingilla village of Dandi local government area of Kebbi State. Speaking to Radio Nigeria, the counsel to the deceased, Barrister Umar Aminu Kalgo, said the unlawful killing of late Abdurrashed Sani, was contrary to his fundamental human right to Life as enshrined in section 33 (1) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended. WMC Command Intercepts Cannabis Sativa, Rice and Other Goods worth N168million on Waterways.

The Western Marine Command (WMC) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) last Thursday, revealed that the Command intercepted Cannabis Sativa and others items worth over N168m between the months of February and May 2022,  The Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Abubakar Umar, while showcasing the seizures to media men said that the illicit hard drugs were seized on the 30th March, 2022 after credible information was given by the officers of the Command. Compt. Umar who resumed duty as the Area controller on the 21February 2022, said he will ensure that his officers and men will leave no stone unturned at achieving his mandate and that of the command. ASUP Suspends Strike, Directs Members To Resume Work Monday

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) has directed its members to resume work on Monday May 30, 2022 following the expiration of the two- weeks strike. The union said it took the decision following some progress made with the Federal Government regarding its demands.  In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Abdullahi Yalwa,  ASUP disclosed that the government had met four of its Nine point demands. It said the decision to resume work was to give the federal government more time to meet the remaining five demands. The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, has charged the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), to be more visible by embarking on public enlightenment and sensitization as Nigerians are unaware of the facilities they command and the numerous services they can render. The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Dr Bashir Jamoh has restated the Agency’s commitment to ensuring effective pollution prevention and control in the Nigerian Maritime domain in order to continue to create   an   enabling environment for the sector to thrive. Anti-Smuggling: Customs Intercepts Truck Load of Grains in Kebbi

A truck load of grains has been intercepted by the Kebbi Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). The grains were being smuggled out of the country before the Command intercepted along Kamba Road, Kebbi, a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SC Nasiru Manga said on Wednesday. The statement explained that this was part of the measures to ensure food security in the country in compliance with the Federal Government directive. He said following the directive, the Kebbi Area Command has toughened vigilance at its borders to checkmate any attempt to smuggle out food produce. NCS Begins VIN Valuation on Vehicles After Harmonization of Grey Areas

After months jof suspension of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) valuation policy on imported vehicles and subsequent harmonization of grey areas including depreciation value . The Nigeria Customs Service is deploying the controversial policy with immediate effect. The Service disclosed this on Thursday during a stakeholders sensitization workshop to showcase the procedures and workability of the harmonized VIN policy.
