The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service on Tuesday announced that the revenue recorded by the command between January and March 31st 2023 stood at N212.5 Billion Naira. The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the command, Comptroller Auwal Mohammed also informed that the Command recorded an increase in export which was 110.448 metric tons valued at N70.2bn in the first quarter. He revealed that among items exported according includes sesame seeds, ginger, hibiscus, mineral resources, steel ingot. On anti-smuggling, he said 14 containers comprising of prohibited items such as vegetable oil, footwears, used clothing, unprocessed wood, and tramadol tablets with a Duty Paid Value of twenty-two billion, ninety-nine million, six hundred and eighteen thousand, one hundred and eleven naira (N22,099,618,111.00) were seized. The Seme Border Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Tuesday announced the seizures of 2242 bags of foreign parboiled rice and seven tankers of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) within the first quarter of year 2023. The Command also announced that within the same period under review, it handed over $6m fake dollar bills to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The Western Marine Command (WMC) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted various contrabands, with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N110.2 million, between January to March. Briefing newsmen in the command on Tuesday, the Customs Area Comptroller (CAC) of the command, Comptroller Odaudu Salefu said the seizures were recorded in 15 incidences. The CAC, who gave the analysis of seizures as 1,519 bags of 50kg-size foreign parboiled rice; 8,825 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) contained in 468 kegs of 25 liters each. He listed others to comprise of 700 pairs of foreign-used shoes; 20 used foreign ladies’ bags; 88 cartons of Caro White Cream (beaching cream), 50 pairs of expired tyres, 3 Outboard boat engines and one water pumping machine. The Port Standing Task Team (PSTT) has delivered its scorecard and restated its commitment to fulfilling the objectives for which it was created.  The team, which comprises of the Nigerian Shippers' Council (NSC), Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) had explained that it was important for it to review last year performance in order to chart a new path noted that it is committed to identifying the problems bedeviling the nations’ maritime sector with a view to proffering lasting solution to such problems. The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) says it has finalized     plans to eradicate of quacks involved in the management system practice in the country. The Director-General of SON, Malam Farouk Salim made this known on Thursday at a one-day stakeholders’ engagement for the National Register for Conformity Assessment Practitioners (NRCAP) in Lagos. Salim said the move is tend to put an end to unscrupulous individuals who usually shortchange companies and individuals. The Management of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA and the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, MWUN, have restated their commitment to continuous stakeholder’s engagement as an effective tool to maintain the peace which the nation’s maritime sector have enjoyed in recent years. The Management of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), have agreed to work closely with relevant stakeholders as NIMASA inches closer to developing a regulatory framework to provide operational guidelines for Submarine Cable and Pipeline Operators in Nigeria. This agreement was reach by the officials of both organs of Government in Lagos at a pre Audit meeting on submarine cable regulation. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the sum of $984,722,302 for the procurement of rolling stock, operation and maintenance equipment for the Kano-Maradi standard gauge rail line currently under construction. The Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo disclosed this to State House Correspondents after this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by the President, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Rambo explained that the Ministry of Transportation presented two memoranda to the FEC on behalf of two of its agencies.
