KLT Command Sways Higher With 38% Revenue Increase In First Half In 2022

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has  has recorded a significant monthly upsurge in the revenue generation profile aggregating to a total sum of N23.6 billion thereby surpassing the N14.6 billion generated within the same period of last year, 2021 with a surplus of #8,940,941,341.00 representing a 38% increase in revenue collected in the first half of the year. The command also made a s eizure of 2×40ft containers carrying sacks of mosquito coils and imported shoes both which are under the banned items of importation as detailed in the Common External Tariff law. The Customs Area Command of the KLT Command, Comptroller Hammi J. Swomen made this disclosure at a press briefing held yesterday in the command. MWUN Loses Chief Accountant ...CONMMEP Commiserate With Union

  Late Comrade Timothy Olufemi Olorunsola. The Maritime Workers Union Of Nigeria (MWUN) has announced the sudden death of  Comrade  Timothy Olufemi Olorunsola, who before his demise was the Chief Accountant of the union. According to a release signed by Comrade, Prince Adeyanju Adewale, President General of the union, late Comrade Olosunsola who died yesterday, 13th of July hails from Ondo State, he joined the union as a Clerical Account Officer from the then Autonomous Union of Nigerian Ports Authority which later  amalgamated to  a branch of MWUN and through hard work, diligence and dedication, Late Timothy rose to the rank of Chief Accountant of the union. The P resident of the Court of Appeal Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, has commended the Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh, for his exemplary leadership role in advancing the cause of Adjudication and Mediation in admiralty matters. Speaking at the recently held seminar for Judges organised by the Nigerian Shippers' Council (NSC), Justice Dongban-Mensem said Dr Jamoh is contributing immensely to keeping judicial officers abreast with relevant knowledge to handle maritime matters. NPA MD Lauds Benefits, Challenges of Ports Concession Regime

The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mohammed Bello Koko, has said that the port reform exercise that led to the concessioning of the ports in 2006 has a lot of benefits as well as challenges in the industry. Bello Koko said the reform exercise has created a system that is efficient, competitive, transparent and capable of attracting foreign investments and more revenue from the ports. But confessed that part of the challenges has been in managing the surge or increased traffic in port operations especially at the Lagos ports axis. Customs Board Confirms Appointment of DCG Gumi, Two ACG’s

The Go verning Board of the Nigeria Customs Service has confirmed the appointment of Deputy Comptroller General of Customs, DCG Hamza Gumi and two Assistant Comptroller Generals; ACG Mustapha Seriki kebbi and ACG ACG Ahmed Nasir. The confirmation took place at the 55th regular meeting of the Nigeria Customs Service board chaired by the Honourable Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed which was held on 28th of June 2022 at the Customs headquarters in Abuja. Customs Half Year Report: Onne Command In Revenue Haul, Generates Over N115.2b

The Port Harcourt Area ll Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Onne Port has collected a total of N115,264,159,921.12 from January to June 2022. The 2022 half year revenue generation shows a remarkable difference from the N78b Generated in the first half of 2021 and N46.6b collected in same period of 2020. Further comparison indicates 147 percent increase above the 2020 collection and 47 percent increase above 2021 figure showing differences of N37,097,079,630.91 and N68,597,503,002.82 for 2021 and 2020 respectively. The Command’s revenue collection  under Comptroller Auwal Mohammed, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), shows an upward progression on monthly basis          resulting in the cumulative differences recorded in the last three years. INSECURTY: Terrorists Attacks Buhari’s Advance Team As Police Loses Two Men

As ins ecurity and terrorist attacks in Nigeria rises on daily basis, suspected terrorists on Tuesday, near Dutsinma, Katsina State, ambushed the convoy of cars conveying the Presidency’s advance team of security guards, protocol and media officers to president Mohammadu Buhari killing two policemen in the process.
