War Against Drug Trafficking: Seme Customs Intercepts 25KG of Cocaine‎


The Seme border Command of Nigeria Customs Service NCS, has again demonstrated it’s vigilance on anti- smuggling activities with the interception of a 22 packages of Cocaine weighing 25 kilograms valued at over One billion naira.


‎While showcasing the seizure at the Federal Operations Unit, FOU Zone ‘A’, Ikeja, Lagos State on Friday, 13th Fabruary 2026, the Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Adewale Adeniyi Mfr Phd who was represented by the Deputy Comptroller General in charge of Enforcement, Investigation and Inspection, DCG Timi Bomodi said the drugs were intercepted through credible intelligence by the eagle eyes- officers of the Service.


‎Giving account of the seizure,  DCG Bomodi said, “In the early hours of Tuesday, 10 February 2026, at approximately 0300 hours along the Badagry - Seme axis, our dedicated officers intercepted a Toyota Highlander vehicle conveying 22 packages of substances suspected to be cocaine. The total weight of the illicit consignment is 25 kilograms.



‎In connection with this seizure, one suspect was promptly arrested. This timely interception was not a matter of chance, but the direct result of actionable intelligence received and swiftly acted upon by the Seme Area Command, under the able leadership of Comptroller Wale Adenuga”.


‎Commending the efforts of the officers, the Customs boss said, “I commend the professionalism, alertness and unwavering commitment displayed by our officers in this operation. Their actions have once again demonstrated the Nigeria Customs Service’s resolve to safeguard our borders and protect our society from the scourge of narcotic trafficking"


‎“This seizure aligns perfectly with the provisions of Section 55(1) (c) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023, which empowers the Service to enforce prohibitions and restrictions on imports and exports relating to the protection of the health and life of humans, animals, or plants-clearly encompassing the fight against dangerous narcotics that threaten public health and national security.



While handing over the seized drugs and the suspect to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ,(NDLEA,) the CGC said “in line with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2024, and to strengthen the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between our two agencies, the suspected cocaine, the means of conveyance and the arrested suspect will be formally handed over to the Commander of the NDLEA, Lagos Strategic Command. NIMASA Reshuffles Management Team For Enhanced Efficiency And Inter-departmental Collaboration
