TinCan Command Rakes In N159bn For August*As Command Earned 87% Pass In promotional Exam

* Decorates 187 Promoted Officers


The Tincan Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a remarkable revenue as the command collected  ₦159 billion in August 2025.

This  feat was disclosed by the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Tincan island Port command,  Comptroller Frank Okechukwu Onyeka, during the decoration ceremony of newly promoted officers of the command on Wednesday, 27th September 2025 at the headquarters of the command.

In his brief remarks at the occasion,   Comptroller Onyeka credited the outstanding performance to the successful deployment of the B’Odogwu system and the ongoing trade modernisation initiatives.


While emphasizing on the the transformative impact of the system, Onyeka stated that B’Odogwu which has come to stay is doing well and it will do better. He said the B’Odogwu system has integrated all key elements of ports and customs operations under one digital interface, enabling faster processing, accurate valuation, and enhanced monitoring of cargo activities.

It was revealed that a total of 187 officers were promoted in the command,  this number, according to the CAC is about 87% of those who took the examination from the Command, passed and were eventually promoted to the next rank.


The statistics of the promotion in the command sgows as follows: Comptroller:  (CC) 2, Deputy Comptroller (DC) 26, Assistant Comptroller (AC)  27,  Chief Superintendent (CSC) 33; Superintendent  of Customs (SC) 19, Deputy Superintendent of Customs (DSC) 25.
Assistant Superintendent of Customs (ASC) I. 27,  Assistant Superintendent (ASC) II. 25 and Inspector of Customs (IC).3.      

Compt. Onyeka described the exercise as testament to the  leadership qualities of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and the good cordial working relationship between the Comptroller and his hard working officers.

The public Relations Unit of the command was not left out as the image maker of the command, Oscar Ivara was decorated with his new rank of Chief Superintendent of Customs CSC while his Assistant, Zubairu and was also decorated with his new rank.


Comptroller Onyeka, who was assisted by the two newly promoted Comptrollers from the command, Comptroller Joe Anani who is now the Controller on charge of  PTML Command and Comptroller Musa and other Senior officers of the command advised the newly promoted officers to cultivate the culture gratitude, contentment and faith, stressing  that happiness, health, and family were more important than wealth or position.


In his words, “Wherever you find yourself, give glory to God. Count your blessings one by one, the more you appreciate God, the more He recognizes you,  at the end of the day, the basic thing is to sleep well, have peace, and see your children doing well,” he said.

He equally urged the promoted officers to maintain their high level of performance, saying that  this  underscores the command’s commitment to excellence and its dedication to enhancing trade facilitation, securing revenue for national development, and supporting all port users in achieving timely and cost-effective cargo clearance .

Breaking News: CBN Ordered To Immediately Suspend Enforcement Of Cuber-Security Levy

Hon. Tajudeen Abbass Speaker of the House of Representatives   The House of Representatives has ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to immediately suspend the enforcement of the controversial cybersecurity levy. The House took this decision following a motion raised by Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda on behalf of all members. The House had expressed concern that the circular issued by the CBN could be misunderstood by Nigerians, it however, noted that the directive does not align with the principles outlined in section 44(2a) of the cybercrime Act regarding the recipients responsible for paying the levy. The House urged the CBN to promptly retract its previous circular regarding the levy’s enforcement and instead publish a new circular aligned with the Act’s provisions. The cybersecurity levy was introduced by CBN through a circular to all banks on May 6, 2024, in accordance with the stipulations of the cybercrime Act.
