LFTZ COMMAND DECORATES PROMOTED OFFICERS AS CAC CHARGED THEM ON COMMITMENT AND PROFESSIONALISM


As decoration of newly promoted officers of the Nigeria Customs Service continues in the various commands, The Lagos Free Trade Zone Command on Wednesday, 17th of August 2025 decorated the newly promoted officers with their various new ranks.



The command, according to reports got a total of 29 promotions with 2 Deputy Comptroller (DC) to Comptroller (CC),  2 Assistant Comptroller (AC) to Deputy Comptroller (DC),  6 Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) to Assistant Comptroller (AC), 5 Superintendent of Customs (SC) to Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC),


Others are, 7 Deputy Superintendent of Customs (DSC) to Superintendent of Customs (SC),  2 Assistant Superintendent of Customs I (ASC I) to Deputy Superintendent of Customs (DSC), 2 Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASC II) to Assistant Superintendent of Customs I (ASC I), 2 Inspector of Customs (IC) to Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASC II) and 2 Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) to Inspector of Customs (IC) 1.




Speaking at the decoration ceremony, the Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller HKA Abubakar (Mrs) informed that promotions within the NCS is not given lightly but earned through commitment, discipline and  consistent demonstration of capacity and integrity in the discharge of duty. She noted that the decoration is in recognition of their perseverance, loyalty, and invaluable contributions to the growth and success of the Command and the Service at large.


While charging the promoted officers on more commitment and loyalty and professionalism to the service, the CAC said, "As we celebrate, I must also remind us that with higher ranks come greater responsibilities. Promotion is not only a reward but also a call to higher expectations. You are now positioned to serve as role models, to inspire your subordinates, and to raise the standard of professionalism, discipline, and efficiency within our Command".



Comptroller Abubakar, who took over the leadership of the command on the  duty 4th of September, 2025 said the Lagos Free Trade Zone Command has continued to play a strategic role in revenue generation, trade facilitation, and enforcement of Customs laws. Continuing she said, "Our collective progress is made possible by the unwavering commitment of officers like those we honor today. It is my firm belief that this promotion will further energize you to contribute more diligently to our common objectives of improved revenue, compliance in Free Zones and the Port, as well as stronger stakeholder engagement".



The CAC went further to commend all  officers in the command and charged them to continue to demonstrate resilience and loyalty to duty while assuring those not promoted that their efforts are recognized and in due time their promotion will surely come. 


While appreciating the government agencies and stakeholders for their solidarity and collaboration, Comptroller Abubarka said, "the presence of our esteemed sister agencies who honored us with their attendance at today’s decoration ceremony. Your solidarity and collaboration with the command remain invaluable in the discharge of our collective responsibilities. Your support not only strengthens inter-agency synergy but also reinforces the spirit of partnership needed to enhance national security, trade facilitation, and revenue generation.

Breaking News: CBN Ordered To Immediately Suspend Enforcement Of Cuber-Security Levy

Hon. Tajudeen Abbass Speaker of the House of Representatives   The House of Representatives has ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to immediately suspend the enforcement of the controversial cybersecurity levy. The House took this decision following a motion raised by Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda on behalf of all members. The House had expressed concern that the circular issued by the CBN could be misunderstood by Nigerians, it however, noted that the directive does not align with the principles outlined in section 44(2a) of the cybercrime Act regarding the recipients responsible for paying the levy. The House urged the CBN to promptly retract its previous circular regarding the levy’s enforcement and instead publish a new circular aligned with the Act’s provisions. The cybersecurity levy was introduced by CBN through a circular to all banks on May 6, 2024, in accordance with the stipulations of the cybercrime Act.
