The CAC, while briefing newsmen at a press briefing on Wednesday, informed that the Command has started receiving cargo from the Far East/China, in addition to Europe and American ships berthing at the Port. He affirmed that while the Command holds the number one record of fastest cargo clearance time of two hours in line with the Time Release Study (TRS), he stated that only declarations made with integrity can enjoy the benefits of faster clearance.
On the volume of trade, Compt. Daniyan disclosed that 52 vessels were berthed at the command within the period under review and 13,431 containers were received, while 30,400 assessments done between January and June 2025.
He noted that given the peculiar nature of the Command as the area for pilot phase rollout for B’Odogwu, it has intensified its existing stakeholders’ engagement through intensive training sessions for officers and customs agents.
The CAC described the B’Odogwu platform as a “revolutionary home-grown trade platform” that has become an enduring legacy for trade facilitation and revenue collection. He expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR for designating PTML as the pilot area for the B’Odogwu platform and congratulated him on his election as Chairman of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Council.
The Area Controller highlighted that the current Nigeria Customs Service under the able leadership of Adeniyi is resonating across the globe, adding that his introduction of policies such as Authorised Economic Operator (AEO), Time Release Study (TRS), and Advance Ruling greatly contributed to Nigeria’s global recognition.
