Comptroller Onyeka Recieves DSS Commander, APFFLON Deligates

Comptroller Onyeka, the Customs Area Controller of TimCan command of the Nigeria Customs Service on Wednesday played host to the newly deployed TinCan Island Port Director of State Services DSS, Mr. SM Kayode, and the Ports' Chairman of Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) Comrade Akeem Ayibojo and his members who paid courtesy visits to the Command.

The visits by the DSS director reaffirmed the commitment of both agencies of government to collaborate in ensuring smooth port operations and preventing the entry of harmful and dangerous products.

Also, at the visit of the APFFLON deligates, the chairman, Comrade Akeem Ayibojo  while speaking said "We are here to express our intention to fully collaborate with the Customs Area Controller as we have all witnessed the introduction of the National Single Window, we shall also wish to speak about some of our challenges and seek to get some favourable responses from your good self sir".

Other speakers at the meeting urged the CAC to continue to be the listening helmsman that he is and also to make sure that his leadership qualities continue to reflect on the manner with which his officers relate with stakeholders and pleaded that APFFLON should also be given the same concession like every other association within the command.

The Comptroller, while reacting to some of the technical issues raised by the visitors clarified that the Command is repositioned towards promoting the three core policies of the Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR which are to Collaboration, Consolidation and Innovation, towards creating a safe and conducive working environment that will not pose a threat to the Nation and it citizenry.

He called on all the stakeholders to broaden their knowledge on the implementation of new policies of the service and that the soon-to-be launched B'Odogwu clearance system in the Command to further boost the efficiency of Customs operations.

Speaking further, Comptroller Onyeka said "There is no gain saying that this collaboration is very good an I have always had a very good support from APFFLON. I remember being highly commended by the words of an APFFLON member when I was the deputy Comptroller in charge of Valuation Unit at this Command then and will surely never take your support for granted".

Comptroller Onyeka asked the APFFLON members to always speak up in any case of procedural lapses within the system as he assured them that the case of multiple alert is no more happening at the Command with due diligence being observed along the line of all procedures, adding that there are smoother goods clearing processes now.

On the complaint about the issue of network, the CAC said that he wish that he can personally solve that matter, but that it's a general problem which everyone should continue to speak about until a proper solution is found.
