Compt. Shuaibu Synergizes With Sister Agencies And Traditional Rulers In Ogun For Economic Growth


The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Ogun 1 Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Mohammed Salisu Shuaibu has continued his strategic collaborative efforts within his area of  jurisdiction with a visit to the Alake of Egbagland , other prominent traditional rulers and security agencies in Ogun State.


The visit, which is aimed to reaffirm his commitment to end incessant clashes between his officers and smugglers within the area is also intended to improve economic growth and strengthen security along Nigeria's borders with Republic of Benin.

 


The strategic visit intends to promote long-term cooperation and synergy through intelligence sharing and suppression of smuggling activities within the South-west region of the country.  


The  traditional rulers he visited includes His Royal Majesty (HRM) Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo CFR the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbagland and Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle,



Comptroller M S Shuaibu while emphasizing  on the vital roles traditional leaders play within their communities in preserving peace, order and security,  conveyed his sincere gratitude for the steadfast support he has being receiving from them.


He said that to improve border security and successfully fight against smuggling, it is crucial to draw on the experience and legacy of long-standing institutions.    


The visits also included productive talks with sister government security agencies in the state where he  highlighted the necessity of strong and ongoing cooperation between security operations to combat the threat of smuggling and other cross-border crimes. In his words, "By exchanging intelligence, resources and expertise, Nigeria Customs Service and other security operations can form a strong front against those that jeopardize Nigeria national security and economic stability".                               


The Controller equally acknowledged  the strategic importance of the borders between Ogun State and Benin Republic and the need for a united front in the battle against economic crimes. Saying that in cooperation with security agencies, traditional rulers and youth leaders, the Nigeria Customs Service will keep using innovative and resourceful strategies to safeguard the nations borders and promote economic growth.



Security agencies visited  by the command boss included, The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA); Nigeria Immigration services (NIS), Department of States Services (DSS), where he was warmly welcomed and assured of continuous support and collaboration.


Compt. Shuaibu reaffirmed his commitment to working together with other sister agencies for a common goal to accomplish. 


In his closing remarks, he advised economic saboteurs (smugglers) to look for another means of business as Ogun 1 Area Command is poised to track down and prosecute offenders.

KLT Command Generates N36.6 Billion In 5 Months As Compt. Edeldouk TAKES Charge

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal command of the Nigeria Customs Service, said it has generated the sum of N36.6 billion between January and May this year. This was revealed by Comptroller Martina Tilley-Gyado while giving her valedictory speech yesterday, Friday, 31st May 2024 at the command. This, according to her represents 75 percent increase when compared with sum generated within the same period of last year.
