New NPA MD priotises port infrastructural Development As He visits Apapa, TinCan Island Ports


The newly appointed Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Ports Authority NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, has identified the speedy rehabilitation of dilapidated port infrastructure across the nation as his topmost priority.


Dantosho, who assumed the role of the managing director with  over 25 years operational experience in the Authority, kick stated his duties with unscheduled visit to the Apapa and TinCan Island Port Complex where he  pledged to collaborate with port stakeholders in a bid to deliver efficient services at the nation’s seaports.


According to the NPA helmsman, adequate port infrastructure and robust collaboration with stakeholders will enable the nation’s seaports attain improved revenue generation through efficiency and productivity.



Speaking to journalists during the visit,  the new managing director reiterated on the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the NPA to deliver efficient port services and improved industry outcomes, he added that his management team is poised to do that as quickly as possible.



In his remark, Dantosho said, “With the kind of backing we have from the Honourable Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola CON, I want to assure stakeholders that the much-talked about reconstruction of TinCan Ports Complex will move from rhetoric to action".


The new NPA boss equally observed that ports competitiveness depends on sound infrastructure and assured that  NPA will deliver on that necessity as soon as possible to better service Nigeria’s domestic cargo needs and those of landlocked neighbouring nations.

Breaking News: CBN Ordered To Immediately Suspend Enforcement Of Cuber-Security Levy

Hon. Tajudeen Abbass Speaker of the House of Representatives   The House of Representatives has ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to immediately suspend the enforcement of the controversial cybersecurity levy. The House took this decision following a motion raised by Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda on behalf of all members. The House had expressed concern that the circular issued by the CBN could be misunderstood by Nigerians, it however, noted that the directive does not align with the principles outlined in section 44(2a) of the cybercrime Act regarding the recipients responsible for paying the levy. The House urged the CBN to promptly retract its previous circular regarding the levy’s enforcement and instead publish a new circular aligned with the Act’s provisions. The cybersecurity levy was introduced by CBN through a circular to all banks on May 6, 2024, in accordance with the stipulations of the cybercrime Act.
