NCS Pledges Renewed Collaboration With Yobe State


The Ag. Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, has reaffirmed his resilience and commitment to collaborate with Governor Mai-Mala Buni of Yobe State to ensure the state continues to benefit from the Service.


He made this re-assurance on Wednesday, 9 August 2023, when he received the Governor and his entourage at the Customs  Headquarters, Abuja, on a courtesy visit.



While describing Yobe as a strategic point of operation for the Nigeria Customs Service, the CGC affirmed that Yobe state is a very strategic place and critical in customs  operation having Customs station located in Geidam being an international boarder with Niger republic.


The Customs boss assured the Governor that the Service would continue to engage the state in making significant interventions for his citizens and would do everything possible to fulfil the promises to render support to Yobe State Government, he also urged Governor Mai-Mala Buni to assist the Service in all ramifications.


Earlier, the visiting Governor of Yobe State, Mai-Mala Buni, congratulated the Ag. Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, on his appointment, saying, “We are here, first and foremost, to congratulate you and to thank you for what the service has been doing for us, and of course to ask for more collaboration”.


He also told the CGC, “The service has given a lot of humanitarian support to the good people of Yobe State; thus, we want to appreciate your efforts and request to strengthen our relationship”.

Breaking News: CBN Ordered To Immediately Suspend Enforcement Of Cuber-Security Levy

Hon. Tajudeen Abbass Speaker of the House of Representatives   The House of Representatives has ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to immediately suspend the enforcement of the controversial cybersecurity levy. The House took this decision following a motion raised by Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda on behalf of all members. The House had expressed concern that the circular issued by the CBN could be misunderstood by Nigerians, it however, noted that the directive does not align with the principles outlined in section 44(2a) of the cybercrime Act regarding the recipients responsible for paying the levy. The House urged the CBN to promptly retract its previous circular regarding the levy’s enforcement and instead publish a new circular aligned with the Act’s provisions. The cybersecurity levy was introduced by CBN through a circular to all banks on May 6, 2024, in accordance with the stipulations of the cybercrime Act.
