Change of Baton: PTML Customs Command Gets New Controller.




 A change of baton has occurred at the Ports and Terminals Multi-Services Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service as Compt. Saidu Abba Yusuf has taken over the leadership of the command following the statutory retirement of Compt. Ali Mahmud Ibrahim.


The new controller who resumed on yesterday after a brief handover ceremony with his immediate predecessor, called for cooperation among officers and stakeholders.

Comptroller Yusuf commended the outgoing controller for setting up mechanism for increased revenue collection, trade facilitation and strict enforcement.


He urged all stakeholders in the command to embrace compliance as a lifestyle, emphasizing that it saves clearance time, enhances revenue collection, and improves the integrity rating of traders.

According to him. compliance also opens the possibility for fast-track benefits and potential migration to the status of an Authorized Economic Operator (AEO).


The new Customs Area Controller (CAC) added that voluntary compliance creates a win-win situation for everyone as it prevents losses that result from seizures, demand notices and penalties which comes in the course of enforcement.


The new CAC assured PTML Management, bonded terminal operators, shipping companies, importers, exporters, freight forwarders, and haulage operators of his open-door policy to sustain and improve on the trade facilitation.


He further emphasized the command’s commitment to rigorously implement all government policies, including those promoting Ease of Doing Business while safeguarding national security and government revenue.


Earlier, the former CAC introduced Compt. Yusuf to senior officers and some stakeholders as he implore them to extend maximum cooperation to the new controller.


Brief Profile Of Compt. Yusuf.

Comptroller Yusuf before assuming his new post, served in various capacities within the Nigeria Customs Service over the past three decades, in anti-smuggling efforts, revenue collection, trade facilitation, and prevention of money laundering.


His previous postings included Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA) Command, Cross River/Akwa Ibom Command, Sokoto Command, Tin-can Island Port Command, Apapa Area Command, Adamawa/Taraba Command, Tariff and Trade Department, and D/C Valuation PTML Command.


Comptroller Yusuf also served at the Area ll Onne Command and the Human Resources Department of the NCS Headquarters.


A native of Kogi state in Idah Local Government Area, holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degree in History from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State, and a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy (MILD) from the University of Lagos.


Throughout his career, he has not only excelled in his duties but has also mentored and empowered younger colleagues, fostering their professional growth and contributing to overall efficiency.

KLT Command Generates N36.6 Billion In 5 Months As Compt. Edeldouk TAKES Charge

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal command of the Nigeria Customs Service, said it has generated the sum of N36.6 billion between January and May this year. This was revealed by Comptroller Martina Tilley-Gyado while giving her valedictory speech yesterday, Friday, 31st May 2024 at the command.
