EID-EL-FITR CELEBRATION: CONMMEP FELICITATES WITH MUSLIM FAITHFULS

The Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP), has congratulated Muslim Faithfuls on the successful completion of their month long spiritual exercise of Ramadan.

The Vice President of CONMMEP, Comrade Udo Onyeka, in an audio message enjoined Islamic Scholars and religious leaders to always propagate peace, unity and religious tolerance at every given opportunity and at all fora.

The CONMMEP Vice President lamented the polarization of the country along ethnic and religious lines blaming the unfortunate situation on the desperation of the political class.

In his words, ”I don’t think that there is any patriotic Nigerian that is happy with what we are all witnessing today, we need God’s intervention because a lot of things have gone wrong; The peace and unity we once enjoyed as one nation is now under threat, the bitterness and animosity we have for one another is indeed heartrending, we have lost it as a nation and it is God Almighty that can heal our land, we now see ourselves as enemies because no one wants to tolerate and respect the other person’s interest and views”.

Continuing, Onyeka said “At a time like this, what we need is God’s intervention, we must not allow the political class to always have their way, we as a people must not play into their hands, there is need for tolerance. And we must bear in mind that their will be no meaningful development in the absence of peace and unity”.

While urging religious leaders to preach and spread the message of national unity and love for one another regardless of faith or ethnicity, Comrade Udo Onyeka on behalf of the association prayed God Almighty to heal Nigeria by giving it visionary leaders who would reposition it for greatness.

Comrade Onyeka sent greetings to Muslim Faithfuls On behalf of the National President of CONMMEP, Alhaji Tunde Umar-Daniah as well as the entire executive and members of the association, wishing everyone a very happy celebration
