Danbatta, Oseni, Others To Brainstorm on Fintech As FiBOP Holds Maiden Conference

All is now set for the maiden edition of  Finance and Business Online Publishers ( FiBOP) 2022 Annual Conference.

The conference themed, "Harnessing Fintech for Economic Growth and Development" is aims at addressing the challenges associated with the increasing deployment of Fintech for financial services solutions. 

The conference is geared towards ensuring a cross fertilization of ideas on the way forward for Financial technology in Nigeria in order to effectively galvanize operators and beneficiated with a view to harnessing its benefits for the growth and development of the country.

The Executive Vice-Chaiman of Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta is expected to deliver the Keynote address while Ezekiel Oseni PhD, CRM, President, Risk Management Association will be the guest Speaker at the occasion.

The event is billed to hold on Tuesday September 20, 2022 at the Lagos Airport Hotel Ikeja, Lagos by 10.00am will be focusing on mitigating the risk factors associated with deployment and use of Fintech as a financial services delivery tool, promises to bring together other stakeholders in the financial services delivery value chain such as the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Deposit Money Banks, DMB, prominent Fintech companies, Fintech start-ups and end users.

FiBOP is the association of online Publishers formed with a view to ensuring informed, analytical and balanced reportage of events and activities in business and economy as well as for capacity building in the business and socio-political milieu.

Breaking News: CBN Ordered To Immediately Suspend Enforcement Of Cuber-Security Levy

Hon. Tajudeen Abbass Speaker of the House of Representatives   The House of Representatives has ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to immediately suspend the enforcement of the controversial cybersecurity levy. The House took this decision following a motion raised by Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda on behalf of all members. The House had expressed concern that the circular issued by the CBN could be misunderstood by Nigerians, it however, noted that the directive does not align with the principles outlined in section 44(2a) of the cybercrime Act regarding the recipients responsible for paying the levy. The House urged the CBN to promptly retract its previous circular regarding the levy’s enforcement and instead publish a new circular aligned with the Act’s provisions. The cybersecurity levy was introduced by CBN through a circular to all banks on May 6, 2024, in accordance with the stipulations of the cybercrime Act.
