Apapa Customs Launches Electronic Cargo Tracking System to Boost Trade, National Security

The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has launched the Electronic Cargo Tracking System (ECTS), a digital innovation aimed at enhancing national security, boosting revenue generation, and facilitating seamless trade across Nigeria’s ports.  The pilot phase of the initiative was conducted using a container designated for the Kano/Jigawa Area Command on 5th November, 2025 marking the first practical deployment of the technology in real-time cargo monitoring. Apapa Customs Breaks Existing Revenue Record With N304b In October 2025

The Apapa Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in the month of October 2025, achieved a record-breaking revenue collection of N304 billion collection, being the highest monthly revenue generation by any customs command in the history of the Nigeria Customs Service. This record is against the revenue sum of N264b generated in the month of October 2024 bringing the command's revenue generation for the first 10 months of the year 2025 to ₦2,402,141,493,747.06 surpassing the 2024 total revenue of the command. The notorious traffic gridlock that once crippled Apapa and its environs is gradually resurfacing, threatening to paralyze movement and port operations once again. Customs, NAPTIP Strengthen Ties on Human Trafficking And Endangered Species Protection

The Comptroller-General of the the Nigeria Customs Service, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi mfr has reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s readiness to cement collaboration with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in combating human trafficking and the illegal trade in endangered species.
