The Lekki Deep Sea Port is daily witnessing growing business activities as the working environment continues to show more improvements. One of such factors is the One-Stop-Shop programme which seeks to drive the Naira-For-Crude Oil sales. The federal government of Nigeria on October 1st 2024 established a One-Stop-Shop (OSS) initiative to drive the programme for the Naira-For-Crude sales. The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has pledged its full support for Nigeria’s bid to return to Category 'C' of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council, while commending the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) for its transformative role in maritime security and governance. Speaking in Lagos over the weekend, the President General (PG) of MWUN, Comrade Francis Bunu, lauded NIMASA’s significant achievements, particularly in combating piracy in the Gulf of Guinea. The Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service yesterday, June 3, 2025 revealed that it has intercepted and seized contraband goods with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of one billion, two hundred and eighty-five million, six hundred thousand, three hundred and eighty-three naira (N1, 285, 600,383.00) only in which Seven suspects were equally arrested in connection with the various seizures. Following the resurfaced video trending on the social media which captured some operatives of the Nigeria Customs Services involving in the shooting incident, the service through a press statement issued by the National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Controller Abdullahi Maiwada dated 3rd of June 2025 has clarified the situation. The statement reads in full, "the attention of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has been drawn to a video currently circulating on social media, which captures a tragic shooting incident involving some operatives of the Service. The NCS wishes to categorically state that the incident in question occurred on Sunday, 17 February 2019, and not a recent development, as portrayed by some online platforms.
