Breaking: Presidency denies ‘N105,000’ Minimum Wage Bill Proposal

The presidency has denied reports that the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, had proposed a new minimum wage of N105,000 to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The special adviser to the president on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga,who described the report as false said in a terse statement, “The Honorable Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun has not proposed  N105,000 minimum wage. The contrary story being disseminated is false"  Earlier, there were reports that Edun had submitted a proposal to Tinubu to increase the minimum wage to N105,000 per month. The development comes after the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) called off their strike over the government’s refusal to increase the minimum wage to N494,000. FOU Zone 'B' Make Remarkable Seizure Of 445.45kg Of Pangolin Scale And Derivatives

Following the resolve of the Federal Operations Unit Zone 'B' Kaduna not to allow any illegal trading in endangered wildlife species and other smuggling activities to thrive in the Zone, the operatives has  intercepted 445.45kg of Pangolin scale and its derivatives. The international market value of this seizure is, Three Billion, Nine Hundred and Fifty-Five Million, Five Hundred and Ninety-Six Thousand Naira (#3,955,596,000.00) only. WMC Intensifies Anti-smuggling Efforts, Hands Over Seized Cannabis To NDLEA

In his resolve to reduce smuggling through the Western waterways to the nearest minimum, Comptroller Paul Bamisaiye,  the Customs Area Controller of  Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has directed his officers to ensure to apprehend suspects involved in any Smuggling activity within their area of jurisdiction. The Federal Government of Nigerian led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appears to have being alarmed by the level of compliance and participation on the nationwide indefinite strike by the organised labour as it has called for a meeting of the tripartite committee through the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, (NSIWC) on the new national minimum wage for Tuesday, the 4th of June 2024. KLT Command Generates N36.6 Billion In 5 Months As Compt. Edeldouk TAKES Charge

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal command of the Nigeria Customs Service, said it has generated the sum of N36.6 billion between January and May this year. This was revealed by Comptroller Martina Tilley-Gyado while giving her valedictory speech yesterday, Friday, 31st May 2024 at the command. This, according to her represents 75 percent increase when compared with sum generated within the same period of last year. Nigerian Shippers’ Council Collaborates With Ghana Shippers’ Authority on Regulatory Framework, Port Costs Study

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC)  has collaborated with the Ghana Shippers’ Authority ( GSA) on regulatory framework and port related costs and charges study in tha West African sub-region. This followed the visit to the Council on Tuesday by an official of the GSA, Helena Claudia Amanfu, for talks. Amanfu said  the visit was part of a regional study that her agency started in 2018,  which will  also cover Cote’divoire, Togo, Senegal and Nigeria.
