...DONATES RELIEF MATERIALS TO ORPHANS AND WIDOWS
The wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu) recently joined the National President of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi to officially inaugurated and commissioned the newly established COWA Secretariat in Kebbi State.
According to a press release issued by the public Relations Officer of the command, Superintendent of Customs SC Mohammed Salisu Tajuddeen, the historic event took place on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Nigeria Customs Service Kebbi Area Command Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, marks a significant milestone in the activities of COWA within the state.
Following the commissioning ceremony, Mrs. Adeniyi and Hajiya Nafisa distributed relief materials, including food items and writing materials to dozens of orphans and widows of fallen Customs officers. The gesture underscores COWA’s commitment to supporting vulnerable members of the Customs family and the broader community.
Iiiiin her address, the COWA National President expressed profound gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for his unwavering support in advancing the Association's mission and vision. She also acknowledged the efforts of the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller CC Nwokorie for making the event a success and giving it a colourful atmosphere.
Speaking at the occasion, the wife of the Kebbi State Governor welcomed Mrs. Adeniyi to the state and reaffirmed her commitment to supporting orphans and widows to align with the current administration’s social welfare agenda. She wished the visiting delegation a safe return to their destination.
In his opening remarks, Comptroller Nwokorie highlighted the significance of the event, noting that since the creation of the Kebbi Area Command in 2019, following its separation from the Sokoto/Kebbi/Zamfara Command, there had been no previous COWA activities in the state. He attributed the success of this initiative to the support and leadership of the current Comptroller-General.
