The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) commemorated International Customs Day 2025 on Monday, 27 January, at the Customs House in Abuja, highlighting its achievements in trade facilitation, border security, and economic development under the theme, “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity.” The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, in his remarks lauded the Service's record-breaking ₦6.1 trillion revenue collection in 2024, which exceeded its target by 20.2% and marked a 90.4% year-on-year increase. He attributed this milestone to strategic reforms, innovative processes, and the adoption of advanced technologies such as the indigenous B'Odogwu customs clearance platform, which has processed transactions worth billions of naira. In comomoration of year 2025 International Customs Day Celebration, the Port Terminal Multiservices Limited Command of Nigeria Customs Service has expressed determination to achieve one hour clearance of Roll on Roll off (RoRo) cargo to beat it’s existing two hours record. Following the successful implementation of the pilot phase of  Unified Customs Management System (UCMS) code named, 'B’Odogwu' which is designed to enhance the facilitation of legitimate trade by the PTML command of the Nigeria Customs Service, the TinCan Island Port Command is set to join the PTML command to deploy the system in the command. The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka revealed this yesterday in his speech at    a ceremony organised by the command to mark the 2025 International Customs Day. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) TinCan Island Port Command has clarified an alleged misleading claim by one Mr. Olukayode David-Albert, a 70-year-old US returnee, who alleged that the Command  demanded the sum of ₦76 million from him to clear his two vehicles and personal belongings, as published by an online publication. In a statement issued on behalf of the customs Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka by the command's Public Relations Officer,, SC Ngozi Okwara, the command stated that it is necessary to address these claims and provide the public with factual clarity regarding the situation.
