Ag. CGC Meets with Guild of Editors and Maritime Media Practitioners in Lagos; … Seeks Collaboration for Effective Service Delivery


The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Adewale Adeniyi (MFR) on Sunday at a dinner with members of Guild of Editors and maritime media practitioners has called for collaboration with the media  for effective service delivery assuring that his administration will operate an open door policy. 


The Ag. CGC in his remake, said  that the Service has made remarkable progress in different areas over the years and will be soliciting the support, guidance and collaboration of the Media while at the helm of affairs of the Service. 


According to him, "In over 10 years, Customs has made some progress; we have broken several grounds on ICT, human resource development, revenue generation and in the next few years, we will be building and consolidating on those grounds and hoping that there are some areas where we will deploy innovative solutions". 


"Collaboration is going to be very strong on the agenda of Customs and this is why we are starting this with our partners in the Media", he added. 


"We will be open to collaborating with our partners in bringing more comprehensive reports to let Nigerians know what our challenges are, what the gaps are, what we can do to bridge those gaps to improve border security and generally, Nigeria", he emphasized. 


Responding, the president of the Guild of Editor, Eze Annaba congratulated the CGC on his appointment as CGC by President Bola Tinubu and he assured him of the needed support from the media for him to succeed.


He said,  "Your coming on board is a refreshing development and I am sure we will enjoy such interactions, on behalf of my colleagues. I assure you that if you continue this way, the Nigeria Customs Service will have it good in the media",  he said. 


"Some people say they're afraid of the Media but the truth is that, if there's no communication, if there's no interaction, there will be miscommunication", he stressed. 


The Ag  CGC was accompanied to the dinner by the Deputy Comptroller General of Customs Hamza Gummi in charge of Tariff and Trade, DCG Mohammed Abba-Kura in charge of Enforcement, Investigation & Inspection, DCG Jack Ajoku, in charge of Excise, Free Trade Zone & Industrial Incentives, ACG Festus Okun, Zonal Coordinator, Zone 'A',  AGC Head Quarters,  Mohammed Jibo among others top senior officers.

KLT Command Generates N36.6 Billion In 5 Months As Compt. Edeldouk TAKES Charge

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal command of the Nigeria Customs Service, said it has generated the sum of N36.6 billion between January and May this year. This was revealed by Comptroller Martina Tilley-Gyado while giving her valedictory speech yesterday, Friday, 31st May 2024 at the command. This, according to her represents 75 percent increase when compared with sum generated within the same period of last year. Comptroller Tilley-Gyado who handed over the mantle of leadership of the command to Comptroller Joy Edeldouk appreciated the officers as well as stakeholders for their support throughout her stay at the command.   She pointed out that the command relied on the stemming of cargoes to its terminals even though the cargo throughput was low. She  established and extended terminal availability adding that it also transformed from simple export processing terminal exporting 869 containers since it became Export processing Terminal (EPT). Tilley-Gyado said the achievements were due to
