CILT INTERNATIONAL INAUGURATES A NIGERIAN AS VICE PRESIDENT

The International body of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) has elected a Nigerian transport colossus, the Magayaki Zauzau, Ibrahim Jibril as the International Vice President and Chairman Africa Region.   The newly elected executives were inaugurated during the annual CILT Africa forum held from April 24 to 27 at the Kigali Convention Centre, Kigali, Rwanda. MARITIME SECURITY: INTER-AGENCY COLLABORATION CRITICAL TO SUSTAIN GOVERNMENT’S EFFORTS – JAMOH·

The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, OFR has stated that inter-agency collaboration is critical in sustaining efforts to curb criminal activities in the Nigerian waters and the Gulf of Guinea (GoG).   The DG made this assertion when he played host to the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP); Major General Barry Ndiomu (Rtd) at the headquarters of the Agency in Lagos.  Jamoh, who applauded the visit of the Amnesty boss, added that it was timely and a wake-up call to synegize in order to sustain the tempo of policing the Nigerian waters, while also actively engaging and empowering the youths on opportunities in the Nigerian maritime sector. SEME CUSTOMS INTERCEPTS 553 PARCELS OF CANNABIS SATIVA … ARREST FOUR SUSPECTS

The Seme Customs Area  Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted 553 parcels of Canabis Sativa which has a street value of about N10 million arresting four suspects alongside the hard drug. The command, led by Comptroller Dera Nnadi disclosed this in a statement on Friday through a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SC Abdullahi Hussaini. The release reads in parts, ”On the 21st of  April, 2023  at about 4:03p.m, officers of the command, while on routine patrol along the Abidjan – Lagos Corridor, intercepted a Ford Bus with registration number,  EPE 622 YC at Gbatrome, Badagry; Upon search of the bus, seven large sacks containing 553 parcels of cannabis sativa, also known as Indian hemp, were discovered. “Also, Four male occupants of the vehicle,  comprising of two civilians and two members of one of the sister security agencies conveying the contraband items were arrested  The contraband narcotics worth about N10 million and the means of

TRANSPORTATION MINISTER PAYS SALLAH HOMAGE ON PRESIDENT BUHARI

KLT Customs Generates N10.5bn, Overcomes Draft Issue Through Light Barges

In-Spite the downturn in volume of importation into Nigeria, in the first quarter of 2023, the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), generated a revenue of N10,572,518,271 within the first quarter of year 2023. This, is as the Command also recovered underpayment of N68.5 million through the issuance of Demand Notices (DN) during the period under review as part of efforts  to safeguard and protect all revenue accruable from import and export trade. FG Approves N495m for Installation of Scanners at Railway Stations, …Appoints Firm for Towage Services at Lekki Deep Seaport

As part of the measures to ensure security of life and property of passengers using the railways in Nigeria, the Federal Government on Wednesday announced the approval of the sum of N495m for the installation of scanners at all railway stations across the country. This was disclosed after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) where the government also approved the engagement of Messrs Alcuff, to carry out towage services at the Lekki Deep Sea Port and the Dangote Jetty. PROMOTIONS AT NIMASA ARE MERIT BASED -JAMOH

The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA Dr. Bashir Yusuf Jamoh, OFR,  says the promotion of staff to all positions in the Agency, including Director, is merit based. Dr Jamoh who stated this in Lagos noted that the recent promotion of two of the Agency’s staff to Directors, as part of the 510 newly promoted staff in NIMASA was approved by the Agency’s Board after a thorough and rigorous screening exercise. “We are focused on rewarding hard work and commitment with incentives which include promotion of deserving staff on a regular basis in line with the Agency’s extant laws and the Public Service Rules; “The promotion of Engineer Chris Amakulo and Mrs.Olubusola Obasanjo-Akande  as Directors in the Agency was approved by the Governing Board last week. 22 Assistant Directors were also promoted to Deputy Directors, while 486 other staff were elevated to their next grade levels. SON DG Warns Importers Against Importation of Substandard Tyres

The Director-General of Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) , Malam Farouk Salim, has warned importers against importation of fake and substandard tyres. Salim who issued the warning during a one-day sensitisation programme organised in Lagos on Tuesday said those who import substandard tyres would be tagged as public enemies.  He further warned that those who chose to disobey the law would not be allowed to continue, adding that importation of fake and substandard tyres was not the best for the national economy. He said the organization will continue to enlighten importers and Nigerians on the danger of importing substandard tyres. PTML Customs Records Improved Compliance …Collects N43.7b in the First Quarter of 2023

The Port Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command of Nigeria Customs Service has recorded tremendous increase in the compliance level of importers, exporters and licensed customs agents following sustained sensitization embarked on by the Customs Area Controller (CAC).
