MARITIME LABOUR: NIMASA, MWUN RESTATE COMMITMENT TO CONSTANT STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT  …As NIMASA Donates Two Vehicles To MWUN

The Management of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA and the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, MWUN, have restated their commitment to continuous stakeholder’s engagement as an effective tool to maintain the peace which the nation’s maritime sector have enjoyed in recent years. NIMASA Director General Dr Bashir Jamoh OFR, and the President General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju both made the assertion in Lagos at a ceremony  by NIMASA to hand over a 16-seater bus and one Hilux Van to the Union as part of the Agency’s Corporate Social Responsibility. The former Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Chief Adebayo Sarumi, has applauded the present Managing Director of the NPA led by Engr. Mohammed Bello Koko and his management team for taking the port reform programmes to high heights. Sarumi who spoke during the facility tour of the Mission to Seafarers (MTS) in Apapa, Lagos organized by the NPA management team said the present management led by Bello-Koko has surpassed the vision and expectations of the nation’s seaports after the reform programme of 2006. NIMASA, NCC COLLABORATES ON SUBMARINE CABLE REGULATION IN NIGERIA …As NIMASA Reinstates Commitment To Ease of Doing Business

The Management of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), have agreed to work closely with relevant stakeholders as NIMASA inches closer to developing a regulatory framework to provide operational guidelines for Submarine Cable and Pipeline Operators in Nigeria. This agreement was reach by the officials of both organs of Government in Lagos at a pre Audit meeting on submarine cable regulation. The meeting which was chaired by the Director General of NIMASA Dr Bashir Jamoh, OFR, also had the Director General of Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) Mr Dasuki Arabi and officials of the Federal Ministry of Environment and representatives of Submarine Cable operators in Nigeria were present at the meeting. FG APPROVES $984,722,302 FOR THE KANO-MARADI RAIL CORRIDOR … As NPA Gets N510,934,600 For Fire Service Search And Rescue Vans

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the sum of $984,722,302 for the procurement of rolling stock, operation and maintenance equipment for the Kano-Maradi standard gauge rail line currently under construction. The Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo disclosed this to State House Correspondents after this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by the President, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Rambo explained that the Ministry of Transportation presented two memoranda to the FEC on behalf of two of its agencies. The first agency was the Nigerian Ports Authority, which sought to provide for the award of a contract for the construction and supply of customised Fire Service search and rescue vans for extrication of accident victims for Rivers ports in Port Harcourt, Lagos Port Complex, Tincan Island Port and the Marina headquarters. NPA Set To Partner NEPZA To Boost Non-Oil Export

The Managing Director gave the assurance when the leadership of NEPZA, led by the managing Director, Prof Adesoji Adesugba paid a working visit to the NPA headquarters in Marina Lagos. JBPT Seizes Contraband Worth N176m Along Badagry Axis in February

  The Joint Border Patrol Team (JBPT) Sector 2 South-West borders of Nigeria has intercepted 6,819 items with Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N176.30 million, in February 2023. The Controller of the JBPT, Zone 2, Comptroller Nurudeen Hassan disclosed this during a press briefing on activities of the JBP Operations along the Sème border axis. IWD 2023: Voice of Women (VoW) Foundation Lauds Women Efforts In Digital Space.

The Voice of Women Foundation for Peace and Unity, has joined the world to celebrate the United Nations International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8th.   The foundation commended women specially those who have contributed to technological advancement in the digital space. The founder of the foundation, Mrs. Chizoba Ayinka     made this known in a celebratory video to commemorate the 2023 International Women’s Day celebration. Anyika, who is also a Deputy Director at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), noted that the 2023 IWD theme: “Digital Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality” #EmbraceEquity# emphasized the importance of technology in bringing gender issues to light and celebrates women who are contributing immensely to the digital space. NIMASA Presents Jamoh’s Three-Year scorecard

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has released the three-year scorecard of the agency under the Dr. Bashir Jamoh (OFR) led management   The management, which came on board on the 3rd of March, 2020 while the nation was in a lockdown following the global lockdown caused by the Corona virus pandemic did not allow the lockdown to deter its set goals as it swung into action while adhering to all the Covid 19 protocols in the agency and the maritime industry. Three years down the line, the agency can boast of numerous achievements of the Jamoh led management such as:  Human Capital Development especially under the Nigerian Seafarers Development Programme NSDP, drastic reduction in piracy attacks not only within the Nigeria territory waters but also in the Gulf of Guinea which has led Nigeria ti exit from the piracy red list of the International Maritime Bureau IMB. The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mohammed Bello Koko led management team yesterday joined the rest of the world to celebrate International Women’s Day with women of the Authority at the NPA Corporate Headquarters in Marina, Lagos. The International Women’s Day which was    instituted by the United Nations, is celebrated March 8 every year. This year’s theme is “DitgitAll” Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality.

TRANSPORTATION MINISTER GRIEFS OVER LAGOS TRAIN MISHAP … ORDERS INVESTIGATION OF THE INCIDENCE

The Minister of Transportation, Mu'azu     Jaji Sambo has expressed deep sadness over the train accident which occurred in the early hours of today, Thursday, 9th March 2023 in Lagos.   The accident involved a Nigerian Railway Corporation passenger train and a Lagos State Government staff bus that was conveying workers to their offices in the Shogunle area of Lagos State.  The Minister    in a statement by his Director, Press and Public Relations,Henshaw Ogubike (MNIPR) sympathised with the victims of the unfortunate incident and prayed for the repose of the souls of those that died and quick recovery for the ones injured.  The Minister, however has ordered for a full scale investigation into the incidence to ascertain the remote cause of the accident. The Nigeria Customs Service in partnership with the World Customs Organisation(WCO), and the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is holding a Leadership and Management Development Programme for its newly-constituted management team.
