Ogun Sporadic Shooting Was In Line With NCSA - Ag Comptroller Shuibu

 The Acting Customs Area Controller in charge of Ogun 1 command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Deputy Comptroller Ahmadu Shuaibu  has said the viral video of sporadic shooting by operatives of command that went viral on social media was in accordance with the Nigeria Customs Service Act (NCSA) 2023. The Act, which frowns at obstruction, molestation, or assaults of officers on lawful duty, with the infliction of punishment on offenders such as conviction to a fine of five million Naira, and imprisonment for 5 years or both. Also, Section 226 of the NCSA empowers Customs operatives to carry out patrols freely was applied by the operatives of the command on the 16th of December, 2023. Ports Access Roads: Oyetola Meets Umahi, Lists 15 Roads Requiring Urgent Rehabilitation

...as Works Minister Assures Cooperation   The minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has said that access roads leading to the ports in Nigeria play a pivotal role in the efficiency of the ports. Customs Holds Stakeholders Roundtable to Enhance Service Delivery

 The Comptroller -General of Customs,  Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, held a roundtable interactive session with maritime and excise stakeholders to devise a lasting solution to issues facing clearance processes in ports across the Country. NCS Targets N6trn Revenue For 2024

  The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says it plans to generate N6 trillion     for the Federal Government in 2024. The Comptroller General of Customs,     Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR stated this at the 2024 budget defense with the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation on yesterday in Abuja, saying the amount was higher than the N5 trillion originally projected in the budget. “I share the optimism of increasing the revenue to N6 trillion in 2024. So, N6 trillion revenue in 2024 is possible,’’Adeniyi said. But he emphasized that the service would be able to generate the N6 trillion revenue if the federal government reduced concession grants in 2024. ‘’The new law will also help us to facilitate a number of issues that will make revenue generation possible,’’ he said. NIPR Sets Taskforce To Sanction Unlicensed PR Practitioners

  The Nigeria Institute of Public Relations has set up a Compliance and Enforcement Committee to checkmate and sanction unlicensed public relations practitioners in the country.   The Chairman of the Compliance and Enforcement Committee of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), General Chris Olukolade (Rtd), has said that machineries are being put in place to sanction individuals who are practising public relations without certification as required by relevant laws. General Olukolade, a former Director Defence Information (DDI) made the disclosure at the inaugural meeting of the committee which comprises top public relations practitioners in the security, paramilitary, public service and the private sector.   National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has urged agencies responsible for the regulation of government policies in the maritime industry to ensure an efficient port system that can meet up with global standards. NPA To Review Concession Agreement

  …Terminal Operators Fails To Remit $852m, N1.8b  The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) said it has gotten consultancy from the World Bank to review the concession agreements which would be free from any form of encumbrances as against what was done in 2006. The review was necessitated following the claim by NPA of unmerited the sum of $852m, N1. 8b by the terminal operators which    the NPA said was due to the faulty concession agreement that the federal government signed with the port concessionaires in 2006. Putting more light on the unremitted funds, the Managing Director of the NPA, Mohammed Bello-Koko, said the port concessionaires refused to remit these sums due to the encumbrances fostered on them by the federal government in the concession agreement.
